Having windows tinted

I am thinking of having my windows on my 92 FJ80 tinted, i have never done anything like this before, so i am not sure how well it holds up.
What i want to find out is, if anyone here has had there windows tinted, did you regret doing it and what did it cost.

I have all of my windows tinted except for the front windshield. 50% tint over the back/rear windows that were already factory tinted. 25% or 30% on the front two windows (i.e. driver/passenger).

This cost me $220


I am very happy with this set-up. It allows me to sleep in the back with out much concern, and I think it helps keep things cooler too.

I haven't had it too long, so I can't report too much on overall quality.

i have all my windows tinted with limo tint...except windshield...i love it and it does cut down on the heat, glare, etc. my advice (if it even matters) go with good quality and warranty, you never know if the dog, kid, tools, etc is going to scratch or peel it up!! enjoy!!

I tinted the windows on my 76 Chevy when I was 20 . It all went fine until , as I precariously hovered in front of my passenger window with the soapy film , a gust of wind grabbed the piece and turned it into apple doll skin ! . I was pretty proud , of course , when I managed to cut , soap and climb into the truck whilst holding the rear window pc at a full arms spread , AND managed to position it perfectly the first time ... phew !

some states have limits on what windows you can tint and how much...

Important - Make sure you get a high quality tint that is guaranteed not to turn purple over time. I believe most all tint shops use it now but make sure and ask first. Otherwise a few years down the road you'll be wanting to remove it.


BTW - I've been searching for a film tint for the front windows that will match the factory glass tint of a fzj. Anyone had luck with this?
