Have you ever needed a full sized spare on an 80 series?

Do you ever need a full size spare? Well that's the same question as do you need insurance. No one wants it except when they need one. Here is a trick to not having your own, go with someone else that has the full size spare and get a flat before that person. Problem solved!
 
Yes - once first morning out on a 4 day Death Valley excursion. Sliced open a side wall on a sharp rock. Mounted spare and sweated slicing another one open for 4 days! Fortunately several others on the journey ran the same size tire if it'd been needed. Given the weight of the beast, a full size spare is the only option IMHO. I'll only run same size as well.
 
Exactly. One of the local guys to QBall and I just put 315 Toyos on his DD 80 just so that we can minimize the spare tire issue. If we need spares we can burn @Dr Gil's truck to the ground so we can have four solid spares :flipoff2:

Once in 20yrs of ownership.
 
If you drop down to 305s or 295s, you can get a spare to fit.
