I was thinking about making (in a few years) a modified 40/45. But I like to keep my entire 40 body and hard top whole so I was thinking that I could keep the 40's tub, fill in the rear wheel well, cut and extend the frame, and add a 1970s Toyota truck bed to the rear with the rear of the cut frame. It would be too long with a complete truck bed, so I was thinking of chopping it down to about 4 foot. Maybe something like 114 wheel base with the rear wheels near the back of the truck bed for clearance.

Anyone ever see a rig like this or have photos of something similar?

I like the following idea myself

I like this but I would do it without 4 doors as I would leave the normal rear of the 40 and a shorter truck bed so the rear wheels would almost be at the end for departure angles.

Then you will take that out and damage the bed and realize you should have just made a tray-back from the get go....dude :smokin:

OK, show me some love. Got any pictures of a tray-bak?

That would be a helluva frame stretch to keep the entire 40 body and a 4' box behind it. At least 4' longer wheelbase.
The troopies with the 40 tops and the crew cab 45 are 116" WB. Your plan puts it toward 140" WB.
Might be an idea to drop the 40 body on an extended cab dodge cummins frame :hillbilly:.

YEah that would get pretty long. May need to think more along the lines of a smaller second seat and cut the tub down a bit.

I'm assuming you want to go with a much shorter bed and keep the full 40 Tub. This is over 120" wheel base and started as a 40.

My issue is that I need the second row of seats for my son to sit in back. I may have to go with a troopieish body and maybe I could figure a small bed in back. I don't want to go over 120" wheel base. If I brought the wheels to almost the rear and have the shackle hangers off the rear bumper, I might be able to pull off something.
