Has anyone come up with a clever way to store a camp table under a roof rack?

I'm getting pretty sick of our little folding REI table. It's functional and whatnot but it doesn't give much working space when cooking and it takes a bit to setup and breakdown. I'm not sure I would want to store a bigger table inside the vehicle though. What I'd love to do is have a bigger, full size camp table that somehow attaches underneath the roof rack.

I recently got back from a trip to South Africa where we rented a camper fully setup with Alu Cab gear. One of the best parts of it was the camp table. It attached underneath the part of the camper that is over the cab of the truck. It seemed pretty simple, some C-channel and a pin system to keep it in place. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to come up with something similar to store a table under my Gamiviti rack, I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a way to do this?

Here's a pic of an Alu Cab table stashed inside the roof of a truck camper shell:

Awesome, was just about to post. This worked perfectly when I had the tube roof rack. Since now I have the LabRak, the rack sits lower and I can no longer use this setup which I miss dearly. I did build another version for my trailer.

That looks like about what I have in mind. How did you secure it in there @duggy? And did it rattle around and make a bunch of noise or was it pretty quiet?

The angle iron was built to put a little tension on the table as you slide it in. To hold it in from the back, I used a simple bungee which was easily removable when I got to camp.

Since the camp table is the first thing you need when you get to camp, and the last thing to be put up, this was very useful.

Luckily mine just slides between the roof rack and my roof. It's just tight enough that I don't need to make brackets or bungee to keep it from moving. I lucked up though.

I use the 48" Lifetime table.
