Loosing my pitman arm to extreme flex, wrong part and sh#ty quality. I searched this forum up and down. All I found was that you get a wagoneer pitman arm (which is what I already have) or if you want to go beefier, you get an F-250 arm. But no one mentions the year F-250 that it comes from! I have a 62 axle with All-Pro hysteer, 69 camaro saginaw box mounted inside the frame and custom heim joint links. Help! What have you used with a saginaw GM box that is beefier than the wussy wagoneer arm?

Howdy! I am running the 3" ( I think?) drop pitman from BTB. I have the 4 bolt Saginaw box from a 77 full size sedan. I don't really drive Hardcore, but I do drive hard enough to crack out the frame where the Saginaw was mounted. The BTB pitman arm is much beefier than the one in your pic. Ya can't see it very well in this pic, but you get the idea. John

Looks like you need more misalignment on that heim...

You may be able to switch back to a Tie rod end and aleviate your problem...

I do not ever remember seeing that pitman arm on a wagoneer. They are on CJ-5/7/8 power steering gears.

Too bad you do not have the original camaro arm; it was twice the beef of the jeep arm pictured.

My arm is bending from the passenger side spring hitting the steering rod as it is under full compression. It bent to this position because this is where it wants to be instead of the way it came. So it looks like I need a 1" drop. The heim is fine, although the passenger side steering rod joint is a little loose. Probably happened when the pitman arm was "customized" . Also you can't see it in this pic but the ptiman arm is cracked and twisted sideways too!

Howdy! So is the steering rod (drag link) hitting the frame when fully compressed on the PS? I would think that if the springs were hitting it, that would force the pitman arm up, not down. I think the Grand Cherokees had a Saginaw with a 2 or 3" drop, and it was about 6-7" long. Yours looks like an old Scout arm. Some of them were about 9" long, and flat. John

Mine is 6.5" long and was flat a one time. It is definately hitting the frame, or was. It has self clearanced and now sits about where I need it. I measured my hysteer arms and they are 5.5 inches long. But the 6.5" pitman arm has worked out great I just need about a 1" drop and something that wont twist side to side once I get the right drop. The arm is bent sideways also about 1". I used to have manual steering and 13.5" 35's so it might be my armstrong steering habit!

I have one similar to that made by Mudrak or someone or other out in California for my larger p-metric box and a 1-ton TRE - it is silly strong.

Have a 2" pitman in the garage I need to sell - not sure what GM sector shaft it fits - and think it was reamed for a smaller GM tie rod end.

Don't think you need it - agree with comments on heim binding.

I need one that looks exactly like the one in your picture but with a 1" drop. I guess I can call ron but his pitman arm just looks a little overkill! I Guess I'll keep looking and let you know what I find.

Your arm is bent, why would his be overkill???

From what I recall from building my crawler. The waggie arm is an 8" throw and the old cj stuff is a 6" throw.......I even think some of the old DJs had a 2" drop arm from the factory.
You're best off running a bigger bump stop to keep the arm from hitting.

Yeah. Bigger bump stops is a good idea. Still would like a stronger arm with a 1" drop. Haven't found anything yet.
