hope to head up here this weekend....should be fun haven't been since college.

Wish I was going - beautiful area. If the campsites are taken, pass these spots and keep following the road along the river. usually no one camps way down the road on the way to the waterfall.

WOW thats a really nice camp spot looks like lots of fun.

Had a good trip....with some interesting neighbors will post some pictures etc.

So we went down into Haigler this weekend the road down there to this area was fr-768 which was actually on my indash gps  This road should connect to FR 411 for a nice loop the road was clear all the away to the falls but not sure past there. I would love to do a summer club camping trip down into here.

So we took the same camping spot as the above pictures which was just as nice as I remembered it!!! The other family that went with us didn't have a 4x4 so we shuttled down them and there camping stuff. The next spot up the road was taken by a couple of interesting younger guys driving a really old suburban all was quiet on Sat. At about 11pm a loud truck came down the steep hill and through the middle of our camp screaming profanities and shooting in the air clearly very intoxicated. They ended up at the camp up creek from ours and general scream, shooting etc. During the night another truck came into there camp but didn't come through ours.
In the morning at round 8am after we had eaten breakfast the same truck that came though our camp the night before came back to our camp. It was a older Cevy truck with NY plates and rusted to the point of being able to see though the bed. There were 4 guys in the truck two in the extended cab portion and two in the front the guys in the back were holding guns the two in the front got out (missing teeth and had head and neck tats) and asked if we had a "t square" I said no...they were not going to leave...asked what they needed it for "one of the guys ripped a side wall and needs a lug wrench" I went to the back of my truck to see if I had any tools that would work as I was looking one stayed with me looking at the back of the truck while the other went to check out the front interior of the truck. Once they decided I didn't have any real tools they got back in the truck and drove back the 200yrds or so to their camp. Since it felt very much like we were getting cased and not knowing what they were really up to and the fact we only had one truck and 8 people and 4 little kids we decided it was best to break camp and get out....and fast.
This is the first time I have ever felt threatened camping in AZ but it was a sucky end to a great trip. Not sure what they had planned or if anything but to get 4 guys in a truck with guns to drive 200yrds down to another camp and turn around and go back to your camp just seemed too strange to think something wasn't up specially given the events of the night before.

Thats a true bummer! I havent run across any trouble on the many trips Ive been down there but Ive never seen NY hillbilliy ex-con's neither :hillbilly:.

Looks like you listened to your spider sense - sounds like a bunch of idiots, too bad they ruined an otherwise good trip.

You got pics? :D

Here are a few....my wife took the camera all weekend and not one shot of the truck:rolleyes: She said she got the important stuff:eek:

So Murf, is it the tattoos that make them ex cons? Cause I can tell you that we have a lot of CSCers with tattoos, and I'd hate to think i've been inviting ex cons over to see what I have to steal while selling used cruiser parts??

Glad your trip didn't end on too bad of a note, but since I moved to Phoenix/Arizona, I have seen more of this type of behavior than I would have liked to by wheeling around in my spare time. I too don't like random hillbillies with guns coming into my camp either (especially the ones that shoot them in the air for fun) and would have done the same as you, but I carry a fire arm because I can, the fact that we have lenient gun laws leads me to believe that the "bad guys" can find them just as easy as those of us that are legally allowed to carry, so why not level the playing field a little? Sad to think thats the attitude you have to have, but you never know and I would rather be safe than sorry like the 3 guys in that Jeep from the news story a couple months ago.

First of all lay off of Murf!!! I was the one that brought up the tats and it was only one of the things I used to get the general picture across of who and what was happening. I have NOTHING against tats...I don't have any but have a lot of respect for well done ones!! I was trying to paint a picture...I am sorry. Also Murf did not set up the deals with the dealer he works for for his benefit period:mad: He did after repeat requests from cruiserheads over years and gets NOTHING out of it:eek:

I don't own a gun for a number of reasons but have NOTHING against guns or those that own a bunch. And I will have to admit I have been looking at hand guns and shot guns since last weekend:flipoff2:

I've been wanting to find this place for years. It's beautiful.
Please give directions from anywhere, even from Prescott. I have found some nice places while looking for it but have never found it. It is a spot from my teen-hood, years ago that I have never found again. I'd like to show it to my daughter.

In situations like that is when you want a Ham to contact the authorities. Chances are high all or most of them would have went to jail that night.

Mountain cruiser and Murf are great guys and know each other, it's all good :D

was teasing, as i have met Murf a few times and he is a stand up character and has helped me personally down there at Camelback. I never made it seem like he gets something out of what he does at work for us or what not in my previous post. You need to take that bad attitude about your weekend and put it towards the a holes who ruined the end of your trip, not someone who is teasing like we all do around here. Not like i'm getting rich selling used cruiser parts, it's a labor of love. Must have forgotten a smiley or something to make the beginning of my original post seem more light hearted.

I never experienced sh$t back east in the boonies like I have in AZ's rural areas and for some reason I just don't see it getting better here anytime soon.

Cool....I was just standing up for a stand up guy!! didn't catch the kidding tone in your post. And I think you are right with the state of AZ back country:mad: What do you recommend for a JIC shotgun and 9mm?

<snip>

I would suggest a Ted Nugent hat and pocket a PF-9 if backup is needed.

So.....you miss your brothers at the big house MC? :flipoff2:

I smiled when I read his post knowing Mc's and my conversations about how many people are quick to judge character based off choice of clothes, tatoos, etc. MC is one of the better folks youll ever meet...but yall didnt know that and it came out sinister

See what I mean? Those tatted folks (esp the ones with those "sleeves") can go off at any minute

As far as camping, I always pack when Im outdoors. It would be easier if it was you and your buddies but with the families and kids it changes the situation for sure!

It got set up after you and your posse bullied me into it if I remember right...You sure you dont have a hidden tatoo somewhere youre sportin'?

Thanks for the backup anyway Rob, just funnin' tho. I will have to say I do get the benefit of breaking up my day by chatting with other Cruiser heads and checking out their rides when they come in for parts or service. Its pretty cool when they come on by and search me out to introduce or just say "hi". Ive had the benefit of meeting alot of CSC'rs that I may not ever get a chance to meet otherwise.
There has been quite a few servicing customers in addition which is great and actually helps the dealership - so thanks.

As far as Hagler, I think when we were younger not too many people knew about it like they do today and was alot quieter. All in all though, always a good place to go.
