I was finishing up my desmog and discovered that one of HAC hoses was not connected. It is the large dia. on the bottom and is approx. 16" long.

Is it suposed to be connected to something? Or is it just an inlet? No filter was on it. She runs great. But we are getting ready for vacation which means 6-10,000 foot elevations and the HAC helps. We were up to 7500' a couple of months ago and every thing seemed fine. But it's strange to find a loose hose.

Thanks for any ideas.

That hose just hangs down on the inner fender and acts as a breather or something. Its normal! Even though unhooked hoses are usually bad.

HAC runs on ambient air pressure. Higher altitude = less air pressure. Above 4000 ft i think? the HAC will do its thing and lean out the carb to make the engine run better. The hose on the bottom is where the HAC gets its ambient pressure from. Easy to open the valve and clean the filter inside. They can get really full of dust. Its an easy PM and as long as its part of your system you should clean the filter and make sure the hose is clear from the outside air to the HAC.

Thanks for the answers... This is a great resource for us Cruiser's.

I will clean out the HAC filter this afternoon.
