I was just looking around on the man-a-fre website when I came across a suspension package from "Habu". I have been searching for a new suspension system for my cruiser and I have never heard of Habu. It's always OME, Dakar, HFS, Pinnacle, Alcan, etc. Does anyone have experience with this suspension or know anything further about it? The price almost rivals some of the Dakar prices, but is it as good of quality?

Here's a link:

I went with the Habu lift that Man a fre has. I see they have raised there prices. They were sold out last month. I paid something like 110 a spring. I have had it installed since last summer and I am super happy with it. With 1.5" shackles it raised it 4" in rear and 3.5 in front.

H.A.B.U. hook a brother up... funny name, I think it is their in-house brand of springs made in Canadia? (yes, I spell it that way- if they're Canadian, why not Canadia?) anyways, it is their answer to dakar, never met anyone who has it (besides TopJimmie), but sounds OK.

I think I was told by Man a fre they were made or shipped from austrailia. But not 100% sure.

According the website they are Australian. I have done a Google search and checked out 4wd Austraila Monthly and cant find a single add or mention of HABU.

PM Steve-O from man a fre. He is on here a lot and could probably answer any questions you have.

I will definitely consider it too. As of yesterday, I was pretty set on buying the Dakar springs when I come up with the money, but now I will have to do even more research because the price is pretty competitive. I am still going to wait until I have a few more first hand experiences though.

At the time I bought my HABU springs they didn't have the Dakars and the HABU springs where like 110 when Man a fre first came out with them. Back then I would have like to have the OME's but couldnt afford them and the Habu price was right. I have had zero problems with the Habu's and am very happy with them. But if I had to do it again with Dakars and Habu being similar in price, I would go with the dakars if by reputation of OME alone. Take into consideration that I do not do any extreme rock crawling. Most all of my experience with the Habus is on dessert and idaho mountain jeep trails, but nothing like some of these guys do.

I have a habu lift kit. The kit is from australia. they go by the name terrain taimers I think. They are Seem like a pretty got kit, but if one orders them see if you can order them with the siders between the springs. That is the only complaint at this time.

IIRC, I have seen the name Trail Tamer in the Australian mags, I will have to double check...

I have been curious about those and the HFS system, just waiting for more people with HABU to chime in...

I have the man-a-fre shackle reversal kit with the u-bolt flip kit and it comes with HABU springs on it, and i am very satisfied with them. The only down is that they are stiff in the rear.

It's another one of those things!!! I have never heard of Habu, here. Terrain Tamer is quite well known, so must be a name change for O/S for some reason.

Auburnfjsexy, how long have you had the lift and have you experienced any sag? My main concern is the tendency to sag. I have heard the stories about pinnacle and another make of springs that have sagged in a short amount of time, and the customer service was not that great in dealing with the problem.

I also have the habu springs. I like it. stiff set up, seem heavy duty. Had mine on almost six months, very little settling. I don't do anything too extreme, just getting around the property and some wheeling for fun. I also agree that there is no body roll. Much more pleasant to drive.
