I have one depending on your H55. The input shaft is different between early/late H55 and they use a different input bearing.

Early has an open cage bearing and no oiler passages on the front cover. Late has a sealed bearing (also larger outer diameter and thicker) and has oil passages on the front cover.

The H55F came out of a 1982 March of 1984 BJ42.

Unless it was swapped its probably the early style. The input is discontinued as far as I know.

I have an early 2F type in pieces but the input is not great (wear on synchro teeth). I was talking with my machine shop on Friday about trying to make the new style shaft work in the old housing. Seems like it could work but not a huge priority for me right now.

What’s the tooth count on your current input gear?
Seal surface diameter would be helpful info as well.
I may have an input gear. Would have to check. We do stock the rebuild kits as well; trans and Tcase.

21 teeth on the existing input shaft. I measured the diameter

Tooth count on old/new input shaft gear will both be 26

Seal surface on old input is ~28.5mm new is 32.

I would be interested in an old type shaft as well if you have multiple in good shape.

based on the input retainer that is an early version.

so if the early version is NLA, can the OP use a similar vintage H41 input? used of coarse.

Yes as long as it's from a 8/80-9/85 H41 that was mated to a 2H or 2F. Working on getting a used one from Australia for mine as well. Afternarket is available on eBay AU. Search 33311-60090 and will bring it up. Believe it may be made in China.

The 26-tooth 10-spline input gear is fairly difficult to come by.
I think you’d be better off buying a new 10-spline input H55F transmission from the dealer. Part 33030-60450
We typically keep one of these in stock.

The new input shaft is not a direct replacement for the early 5 speed.

I cant find a F/H version of the 85-90 input shaft that is available in the US.

You can order 33311-60120 or 33311-60121 from Japan or UAE.

Those are too new for a 40 series input shaft. Toyota installed them in SWB and MWB 4X series 83 and 84 models. The 10/85 until the next change will not work. 33311-60090 is available aftermarket on eBey Australia.

I know. Guess I was pointing out info for Georg and anyone else reading. I believe the later model will work with mods and some parts swapping.

If you don't mind aftermarket 33311-60121 is available on eBay Australia as well. Appears they will shift to the US.

The 33311-60121 shaft will not work. I have a few of those in stock as well as new 1HZ input shafts and rebuild kits for the early & late H55F.

The part number I posted earlier in this thread is for a new oem H55F transmission. Sure, they’re $2600 but they are OEM NEW!!!!!
