Hello!

I just finished rebuilding the 5 speed gearbox and tranfer of my BJ74. I came across a little plastic bit which is left over of the rebuild kit. The thing looks like a oil feeder or something. It wasn't mentioned in the manual and I don't know what to do with it.

Does anyone know what it is? Is it essential and is it worth taking the whole lot apart again?

Thanks heaps for the help

Tim

oiler cup, bad news it slides in the forward half of the transfer case shell pointing toward the fifth gear and counter shaft.

It really should be in there.

Thanks rick, put it in last night! Box is gonna last forever now!haha

Hey Tim,

After inspection I have found my box is missing a few teeth and the transfer case is in good condition. I picked up a second gearbox and transfer case from a BJ74 for a few hundred dollars off a mate and it has 400k is on it but is in perfect condition.

What am I up for merging the gears from both boxes and rebuilding it? Did you need any specialist tools?

Thanks, Tim.

You need some good pullers and something for measuring the end float. You will need a bearing and seal kit.

Thanks for your quick reply, what did you use to measure the end float?
Did you have instructions from the net / a manual?
