G'day Guys,

I have some questions in regard to the 'H' diesel motor.

1. What year was it first produced in a Toyota?
2. What year was it replaced by the '2H'?
3. What is the capacity of the 'H' motor?
4. Is the '2H' a significantly better motor than the 'H'?
5. Anyone got any pics of a 'H' motor?

Any other advice or information would be warmly received.

Cheers,

Ben

I think the H ran from 72 - 80 and was then replaced with a the 2H
The H is 3.6 litre
The 2H got better lubrication and has more cubes and is easier to bolt a PS pump to the block.
No pics.
If your in oz and have a choice ,get the 2H ,they are cheap and parts are plentiful.
Even the 1HZ is much cheaper in the used market these days

Here are a couple of pics of my 76 "H" engine for you.

I have both a H engine and a 2H they are very similar. Sinse the 2h engine is a 4 litre and the H are 3.6 there are differenses of course, crankshaft, pistons and cyliders are not the same I guess.
I have used a lot of parts from the 2H on my H engine. The exhaust manifoil are nearly the same but do not fit, other than that- I dont know.

I have HJ-45 and year model is -78 and I have a clutch broplem. it slips but I can´t find new one.
Is early 2H-engines (-87) clutch same? what a bout clutch from FJ-55?
I know that the disc is same in H-engine and FJ-55 but does the pressure plate fit?
