I have a 2012 gx460 with nearly 100k miles.
I live in Dubai, so sand driving is where most of our offroading happens. The gx is a lot of fun to drive here.
I have custom kill switch for abs, traction and airbags.
The other day we were out, and I wanted to test some recovery boards, so trying to get stuck, we hooked up my gx460 to a heavier 200 series and tried too dig myself in to the axles. But I reverse, the tyres just would not spin, and I was maxing out the throttle and it would not get past 3000rpm. Gx finally displayed a transmission fluid high temp warning , and we stopped.
Tried again, and I managed to get stuck, but was not the right angle to use recovery boards, and it again without being hooked to the lc200, the reverse would not move the car, and nose was facing up an incline.
So finally, switched off the kill switch, so that crawl control is available, and it just reversed out without issue, also since crawl is only available in 4lo, that may have been where the torque finally came in, and was able to spin the tyres to overcome the friction from the sand around the dug in tyres.
What could this issue of lack of power and being able to rev higher than 3000rpm when lightly stuck. On the street, the reverse has no issue, and can just idle out of the garage.
