Spare, plugs and an inflator will probably get you further than having chosen a specific tire in the beginning.

I'm also looking to the MT Baja Boss AT as the next tire. Either that or the Toyo Open Country AT3 for weight. The MTs have gotten pretty rave reviews so far, including snow performance.

Agreed 100%. I have both - and the inflator is of course awesome for airing up after wheeling. Have not used the plugs on my own rig, but I did patch a tire in my buddy's camper. Took all of 5 minutes.

How are you liking the MT Baja Boss tires overall? I'm very strongly considering them. I just don't want the 54#/tire with the new Wildpeak AT4W, and the MT is 49#. Other tires like a Toyo Open Country RT Trail have crappy reviews for noise, snow, and rain. Looks like the MT is really it for a sub-50# SL-rated 285 that has good snow/noise/rain reviews.
Bridgestone Revo3s and Destination X/Ts are good in snow and rain. Also 50# for LT E load range 285/70R17s and ride like an SL tire. I have had a few punctures, but I wheel multiple short trails a week. All have been fixable.

I have Yokohama G015 in stock size and they have done everything I have been willing to go through, but it's definitely scary when driving through jagged rocks. I don't see any cuts or chunks of rubber missing from sidewall, but I think for peace of mind, especially for my wife, I will get sturdier tires next.

Had SL G015s on my rubicon. Sucked in wet mud otherwise got me anywhere I wouldn't get high centered. I got that Jeep stuck within a week of owning it.

I'll check out the Revos. That is a liiiiiiight 285!

It's a Catch 22 with tire ratings for off roading. You want a thinner wall so when you air down you get that nice fat foot print, but then again you want that thicker wall for puncture resistance.

Really impressed and pleased with my choice. They make some noise, but unless you are expecting your ridiculous looking off road tire to be Michelin quiet I think it's well within the acceptable range for the category. I have no issues doing long highway drives and my wife hasn't said anything about it.
They handle well on the road and have no issues with traction, hard turns or braking in the dry or wet. The Pirellis I replaced felt more responsive on turn-in but I don't know how much of that is tire size (265/70/17 v 285/70/17) vs tire construction. This absolutely does not matter on a GX but maybe if you were replacing the tires on a 911 Dakar you would notice.
The Baja Boss clear standing water much better than the Pirellis so driving in the pouring rain and/or hitting puddles at speed feels much better with the Mickey Thompsons.

They are absolutely silly off road. I tried to get stuck in a mud pit the last time I was off road and the Baja Bosses + MTS Mud/Sand just churned through it like a mud tire.

I think you just sealed the deal :). My Falkens are at 5/32 so I'll pull the trigger later this summer on the MTs. Just in time for a trip to CO.

I'm about to buy a snorkel, but I wouldn't say I like the Ironman 4X4 because they slap their logo all over it, and Dobisons is on backorder. Are there any other options out there? I remember seeing one somebody got off of Amazon, but I'm unsure about the quality. If anyone knows about it, please let me know. I also have an OBDLink MX+ arriving today!

Slowly, but surely.

Both of those are good options, this TJM one looks pretty rad too

lol I forgot all about that one! I’ll check it out again. I like look of the original snorkels but that new one is pretty cool looking. Thanks for the reminder!

OBDLink MX+. TPMS. HOW? LOL, I did some research on here and CL and still can't find a solid answer on how to get the TPMS readouts on the OBDLink app. Any suggestions? Also, if I can get it on my dash screen that would be awesome.

Only viewable in a ‘20+ gauge cluster

Are you connecting to the TPMS network? 3rd one down in picture. Unfortunately vendor hasn’t allowed it to be read at same time as Nework A

Yeah, I finally got it. It popped up on a 4Runner forum in a Google search. I appreciate the response!

I bought one of the cheap chinese knock off snorkels for my LX450 years ago, probably close to ten years ago. I've ripped the head off of it a couple times on trees. Sold the truck to get the GX a couple years back but the snorkel is still on the LX and going strong (I know the guy who bought the LX from me). I don't know if there are any chinese knock offs for the GX but if there are, I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

I've seen a few on Amazon for the Prado 150, so I'm sure it'll fit, and it's only about $70. I just don't want to make permanent cuts for a product that might not be permanent.

You could always compare cut templates with another solution
