With the growing interest in the GX460 as the fantastic platform it is and the proliferation of its enthusiast following, just figured it's time to start a thread on here that can be a hub for all things GX460 that don't necessarily need their own thread, and for us current/past/prospective 460 owners to shoot the s***. I know there's been plenty of times I wanted to discuss a few minor odds-and-ends related to my GX that didn't warrant their own thread, or just wanted to go over some miscellaneous things about the J150 platform. So anyways... hopefully herein can be the place for everyone to have all of these convos.

In my world of random GX things, I'm working on finding a location for a ScanGauge III, might try to make it work where the sunglasses holder is. If not, probably just below the center screen. Also trying to line up some crossbars as a way to mount my traction boards and the awning I picked up a few months ago. Yay projects!

[& Happy Father's Day to those celebrating, today's my first and I can't wait to have my kiddo on adventures with me in my truck]

Happy Father's Day.

I'm a new GX460 owner
Where is this sunglass holder you speak of?
Overhead by the dome light / sunroof controls

And here's how Slee mounts a Switchpro

(Thanks GX*BOB for this image)

@Acrad that is super clean, will have to look into the dimensional differences between the Switch-Pros controller and the Scangauge III
Its pretty substantially different. However, with all the folks doing 3d printing I imagine someone could make one. I would be interested in one as well. I never loved Toyotas choice to give us such limited info on the dash.

I don't have a sunglasses holder I have pop down mirror there. I assume it's for looking at your kids but in my case it comes in handy to yell at my dumb friends to keep their muddy boots off the leather.

That SDHQ switch mount looks great, but is $$$ like everything they make. I have the Treaty Oak 3d printed overhead mount which is working great for my Auxbeam.

The mirror has a sunglasses holder built into it if you pull it down further

I actually like and use the sunglass holder, for... my sunglasses!
Regarding where to put the Scangauge, I have an OBDLink dongle that I dedicated an old Galaxy 8 phone I had lying around for all my data engine and TPMS gauges.
I tried mounting the phone sideways front center on the bottom of the binnacle but is was just high enough to obscure some of the dash lights. But the phone width is sideways is probably higher than the Scangauge? I wound up mounting the phone just to the right, next to the infotainment screen on a hinge (with friction) so I can adjust the view angle. So far this has worked great! I have it mounted with Velcro. My actual phone (Galaxy Note 20 Ultra) holder with wireless charging is the thing with the 4 arms, just to the right of the shift handle, bottom of the picture.
Here's some photos of my setup using an old Galaxy Note 8 I had in the closet connected to the OBDII dongle:

When I need to view the entire screen I can just fold the phone to the left. With it folded in to view the entire display.

Below is the black hinge I purchased from the hardware store and added black Velcro to both the phone and hinge so I can adjust the phone's position as needed. The phone is just resting on the console.
The hinge is held to the dash/console with 3M double back tape.

This setup has worked great! It's easy to glance at for a dead on MPH when needed and all my temperatures along with long, lat and compass heading.
Change screens and I can see all my tire pressures and temp's!

That's a good setup! What's mounted just below your HVAC screen? That's where I'm thinking of mounting the ScanGauge III.

I also like the sunglasses holder but in installing my dash cam I knocked off the spring that opens the holder so now it doesn't work as it should. For the life of me haven't been able to fix it.

If you're referring to the small screen, that's a Yaesu FTM-400 HAM radio face. The body is under my drivers seat.
On my build thread starting at Post #44: Builds - R²M 2013 GX 460 Overland Build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/r-m-2013-gx-460-overland-build.1104719/page-3
it shows how I have the radio set up with the mic.

Random thought of the day:

Is adjusting the shocks differently on each side a thing or am I overthinking this? I'm getting more side to side pitching from the rear axle than I'd like in certain instances. It feels like the passenger side needs slower rebound than the driver side based on how the annoying side to side bucking starts. The driver's side is heavier and I have a steel fuel tank skid and left side tire carrier so this makes sense in my mind, but I am also an idiot.

The rebound adjusters on Dobinsons MRAs are annoying to manipulate so I'm wasting everyone's time here instead of wasting my time crawling around messing with shock settings.

Do you have KDSS? Or the Yota lean?

Corner balancing is a thing, Although you can really only adjust preload on the front...

Are your dampening adjusters in the same position right to left?

I have a little Yota lean on the driver's rear. The front is level side to side. Damping is currently the same side to side.

Maybe I just need a spacer on the driver's rear spring.
