GX 460 Hood paint - Big issue? (1 Viewer)

I'm looking at a 2010 with some paint missing on the hood. What am I looking at to fix this issue? Barring doing the Prado conversion...

First, my guess is that it's already been painted once without a clear coat. I don't think I've ever seen paint come off like that before without the clear coat coming off first. Have you done a CarFax on it yet to see if it's been banged into?
Second, I'd just take it into a reputable paint shop and have them just do the hood. No need to do a Prado wannabe, unless that's what you really want.

It’s a common problem with white Toyotas. It’s the main reason I went with gray when white was the only other option at the time.
