I wish I could...i really do. But i have to work on friday. I am packing friday night and shipping out eeeeearrly saturday 3am and heading north. I will be at crawlfords, if you guys make up there for registration hunt me down. I def want to hit the trails with you guys and find out where your camping...

Anyone get there TT yet?

Watch for all the trailer queens on the river somewhere.:princess: :flipoff2:

We'll probably plan on being down at Crawfords early monday to register. Hope to see you then.

No TT here yet........

We are going too. We're leaving Sunday morning, should arrive Sunday evening.
Will be staying at Crawfords since it's our first time and not familiar with the area.

Started packing and loading tonight. With a dozen jerry cans of cooking oil, firewood and other stuff on the roof rack, the cruiser looks like it's out of a scene from a third world country.

Just made some lower quarter panel protectors since I'll probably end up getting pulled over various rocks and obstacles in case I decide to venture off the kiddie and beginner trails:princess:

I heard beer is hard to come by and firewood around the campground is at a premium.
Anything else out of the norm a newbie should know?

See everyone up there!

Steve, For a minute there I thought you were going to be frying up chicken for all of us. Forgot about your diesel.

Beer is non-existent there. They just banned it in most areas, even possession. I believe you will be OK in Crawfords.

You'll feel right at home up there, except it is a little hillier. :D

I always bring a lot of firewood from home. Drive safe. See ya up there. Bring your camera.

Brush Fires on the East Coast of Florida

News up here is reporting that sections of I-95 are shut down in Volusia County due to brush fires.

Just so you PBC boys can plan accordingly...

Everyone is welcome to "hide" their beer at my camp for safe keeping:cheers:

Time to get creative. We have to learn to drink out of styrofoam coffee cups, sport cups or get those wrap around soda labels for the beer cans. They won't work on Corona bottles though:flipoff2:

Thanks Steve. I like the Fake Label thing. Had one years ago. Perhaps we'll make a "spider hole" like Saddam had and hide a cooler or two. :grinpimp:

I'll keep my eye on it. Watch this space for further updates...

I've ordered my FOURTH waterpump for the FJ40. There were two wrong ones from Advance/Discount and now I'm on my second from Auto Zone. I'll find out tomorrow if it is the correct one. The damn descriptions they have on the pumps are NOT accurate. When it says "with oil cooler" it is supposed to have a third fitting. Then there was the one that I got that had the third fitting but was too tall - was for a truck without a fan clutch.

I'm still taking Friday and Monday off this weekend, so if I'm lucky I'll still get the Cruiser on the road. I just won't be heading north with it this year. Oh well, I should be ready to go next year without having to work on it like crazy. :grinpimp:

Danger Will Robinson

Stars are almost in alignment. Close call last night with a stripped sector shaft nut - used too long of a bar and was too tired and not paying attention. Got up early and got a replacement at the Chevy dealership - was soooooo afraid I'd never find one. Finished welding all the shock mounts and getting shocks on last night.

Down to: driveshafts (en route from Kali  ), front brake lines and bleed, steering bumpstops, front spring bumpstops, change/fill fluid, pack gear, and load on trailer :princess: :flipoff2: . Will prolly just toss all my trail specific tools in a box and organize the 40 in SC as well.

Thinking I'm gonna have my sorry @ss on the road by 7 Thurs. with Jim, and just plan on finishing whatever's left up in SC.

Jim, I'd like to leave tomorrow but have some other forces at play here. Thanks for the invite though.
Rasco and I have had a heart to heart and he agrees the beer situation is critical. We've decided that he will undergo minor surgery to have some beer bottles placed in his stomach cavity while we run the river road. He is a real team player. :grinpimp:

Just saw on the news here that 95 is closed in 2 sections, by Rockledge and also Daytona, but in the early morning hours only. (5-9 AM). Keeps us updated Eric if it gets any hotter up there with respect to the fires.

BTW, we're on fire down here, too, several large ones and periodic road closure. Several fatals on US 27 due to visibility/smoke.

I'm not actually in an area that has fires, but had heard about I-95 closures on the radio. Today I can't find any more current information on it. I will continue to search, but no new news at this time.

Last I heard was 95 is closing at 0500 in the morning from Fiske to 50. Thats just north of the wickham exit. Try here for updates. http://www.cfnews13.com/trafficpop.aspx

Good luck on your travels. You can take US 1 as an alternate but it will be a little slower.

I-95 update

Good morning, Guys:

The radio this morning reported that a 12 mile stretch of I-95 would be closed for a few days while they remove trees that had fallen onto the roadway.

I found a story on CNN that confirms this also:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/05/11/brush.fires.ap/

Looks like the detour could add anywhere from 30 min. to an hour to the trip.

At any rate, safe travels to you all. I wish I could be going as originally planned. At least I got the right waterpump last night!

Thanks Eric.

Saw that same report on local TV down here this morning. I believe will be taking the TPX to 75 and then 85 out of Atlanta to my place. Plan on getting out this evening and driving most of the night. I'm off today but Mike and Bill are working. If we make it to GA befor taking a nap, I will be happy.

Sandy actually suggested that we go out to I-75 tonight and watch for you guys to pass!

Seriously though - if you need a place to crash, you are welcome to stop up here (we're only about 4.5 hours north, so I know you will probably get further north than here). Or if you need a place to stop for some repair or something I will PM you my phone numbers. Call me any time of the day or night and we can help you with whatever you need.

Would you settle for a kazoo and some sparklers?

:flipoff2:

Eric,

Text me with your contact numbers. My old cell phone died and I couldn't extract all my numbers - new one is same old number.

Bill.

Numbers are on the way. Are you okay with a phone now, or is text still the rule?
