Registration is open, for the 25th annual Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride (GSMTR), at www.stlca.org/gsmtr/ . The event is May 16-21, 2016 at Wind Rock Park, Oliver Springs, TN (near Oak Ridge) This park is 72,000 acres with over 300 miles of trails from mild to wild, something for everyone.

Your registration includes: Free primitive camping, Thursday evening Chile Super, Friday evening Hamburger Cookout and Band and Saturday evening BBQ meal and Raffle plus a T-shirt and event decal.

I've never been to this event, I was wondering if I can come one or two days? If so, is there a day that's better than others? How much is the fee? I'm assuming just a Wind Rock daily pass for just coming down for a ride? I'm slammed between March - August at work so I can't get away for more than a day or two. I've seen on the youtube videos where there's group rides, are these for all levels of trails? I haven't done any of the real difficult trails at Wind Rock or anywhere else so not sure I would feel comfortable hitting one of those without maybe riding with someone first. I'm getting a new rig on May 1st so I need to get the feel for it also. I would like to take it on some of the easier trails if there's groups going on those and I would really like to ride with someone on some of the harder trails if anyone would mind an old guy tagging along? Sounds like a great event and I want to get down there this year.

All days are good for riding, we run easy guided trail rides daily. The complete schedule is available at www.stlca.org/gsmtr/
Friday night is cookout and band, Saturday night is BBQ and raffle.

We reserved Cabin 16 for a Sponsor and. they are not going to make the event. Cabin is furnished with log furniture. Living room has a full-size leather sleeper sofa and chair or recliner. Unit sleeps up to nine people with linens and towels provided. The kitchen has a fridge, stove, coffee pot, microwave, dishwasher and all essential kitchen items. There is a full-length back porch with a picnic table, rocking chairs or porch swing and fantastic views. In addition, a charcoal grill is outside each unit If someone wants the cabin we will transfer the reservation Cost is $175/day plus a onetime $60 cleaning fee. Let me know if you want it.

I will be there, dude... coming early Wednesday morning and leaving (unfortunately) late Friday afternoon, so planning on being on the trails for 3 days, camping 2 nights. Gonna bring some beers to trade.

Bringing the 40 this year, should be fun learning to wheel all over again. The 80 is so comfortable and easy to drive, looking forward to a manual tranny and shorter wheel base... Just got the Aussie locker installed, so I will be ready for the rain!

Okay guys, I'm bringing a trailer full of wood but I got a late start on splitting it and it may not be cured out. Rance is bringing some fire wood also. Those that are coming up, please bring some fire wood if you can so our camp site is the best there.
