With the response to our closed group buy on MUD Sierra Expeditions would like to offer another group buy on IBS Dual Battery Systems.

The IBS kit is computerized dual-battery management kit was developed in Switzerland. This state-of-the-art system uses a RISC micro-computer to either isolate or link multiple batteries as needed. Normal operation separates the starting battery from the auxiliary battery to safely power electrical accessories when the vehicle isn't running. An override button links the batteries for high-load uses such as winching and is also used for self jump-starting. In-cab monitoring, which uses an LED display to show each battery's state of charge, is available. Installation involves an included power cable and a pre-made four-wire harness. The IBS won a Global Media Award as one of the best new products at the 2009 SEMA Show.

This kit includes:

  • 200A Relay (12v Systems)
  • In-cab monitor with flush mount (optional mounts are available but not included in the group buy)
  • Wire Harness
  • 10' of 4g positive and negative cables
  • All connectors needed to complete installation

One of the benefits of this system over other dual battery kits is the bi-directional linking feature. While the engine is running the Main and Aux batteries are linked together for parallel charging from the alternator. If the engine is stopped, the two batteries will be disconnected automatically with some delay. With the additional charge by solar equipment (to Aux battery), battery charger or generator, the (main) starter battery will be charged automatically with Aux battery together. Appliances as fridges, lights, compressors, inverters are now safely fed from the aux battery.

Also if there is interest in adding the RBM (Relay Booster Module), we can add that to the group buy. The RBM is an optional upgrade which is designed to improve the functionality of the IBS-DBS Dual Battery System in the event that the starter battery is empty or fails totally. Starting is supplied from Auxiliary Battery (AUX).

What does the RBM do exactly? Also if I purchase, can I pickup locally?

can we see more pictures of the installation kit. I would like to see the wires and if they have end connectors etc.

Also, I dont see how the RBM is a necessity. "An override button links the batteries for high-load uses such as winching" wouldnt this also allow the vehicle to be started if the main battery is dead????

Interested. Just need to scrounge up cash.

Thanks for listening er reading...!

Flying Will,
Thanks for this second opportunity!
PLease count me in for the IBS dual battery setup and the RBM (Relay Booster Module).

(The RBM is an optional upgrade which is designed to improve the functionality of the IBS-DBS Dual Battery System in the event that the starter battery is empty or fails totally. Starting is supplied from Auxiliary Battery (AUX).)

It still seems to me the RBM is redundant since the IBS already can link to two batteries and thus can start the car that way. I'm obviously missing something technical.

Manual Battery "link" Battery Manual "link":

In an emergency situation (defective or empty Main Battery) or in case of higher power consumption the two batteries (Main & Aux) may be connected together by activating the link button (red LED manually linked is on) After a laps of time of 30 minutes (or immediately after activating the auto button), the system returns to the automatic mode. When using an electric winch, the battery connection can be activated for 180 minutes by pressing twice the link button. In an emergency situation (Main Battery defective or empty) or in case of higher power consumption the two batteries (Main & Aux) may be connected together by activating the link button (red LED is on manually linked) In this mode sounds every 30 seconds a Beep to remind this status(Auto return after time expired). The load sharing function with the manual battery connection reduces the load on the alternator, the wiring and the batteries in the use of the winch.

AAAAAAWWWWW!!! :bang:

It ends before I'll have the extra money to spend on one.

Kids and water heaters are expensive :bang:

I'm gonna take a shot, but someone with a knowledge much greater than mine will correct me if I'm wrong.

The RBM will link the secondary battery if your primary battery goes completely dead, with no harm done to the RM in the system. Without the RBM, the internal RM can work, and you could get your vehicle started with the aux battery by linking the two, but you will likely destroy the internal relay module.

You would think the RBM would come standard in the kit, but it's really added insurance in case you run your main battery totally down.

I "think" that's what happens :meh:...... maybe Wil can chime in.

Edit: You may have already found the answer as I was typing this.

The batteries are already linked and the Aux can be used to start the car. The RBM just gives the Aux an added boost to help start using the main.

on their website this is already a feature: In an emergency situation (defective or empty Main Battery) or in case of higher power consumption the two batteries (Main & Aux) may be connected together by activating the link button (red LED manually linked is on)

But by linking the two(with no RBM) while the main battery is totally drained, and starting your rig, you could/would destroy the relay in the system.

With with the RBM, it protects against that.

Correct? Anyone?

This is one mod I'm really excited about, maybe one of the most important ones. A slippery slope is ahead though. Now that' I'm getting the Dual Battery, I can wire up the inverter I purchased, run my HAM and CB from the aux battery too, then I might as well get a fridge, and I should finish my drawers for the fridge to sit on.... you know the rest.;)

You said that the GB ends on the 29th. Do you need Payment by then or just commitment to buy?

I am in for both but would like to pickup locally if possible.
