Ok guys, just wanted to give you all a personal opinion. I received a shipment of the flares into Australia today. It was cheaper for me to buy a few rather than one, so I will sell the rest. I don't know about the USA but the price for getting them through customs here was HUGE! Anyhow, the products were extremely well wrapped and packaged. The fenders look great, are well finished and well made. Although they are a harder product than I expected there is still some flexibility. Although I suspect that impact with a rock will shatter them. I am speaking with Bursabaju at the moment to confirm the fitting process but they look to go on fairly easily. Flares are supplied with stainless steel allen bolts. He also supplied a rubber strip to run along where the flare sits on the fender. If you didn't want to use this you may need to file a few rough edges of but minimal work is required. I saw some in Bali that didn't use this strip and just had some black sealant applied which sealed the flare and fender together - looked very smart. So, from a first hand experience, very happy with the purchase. I will be listing on Ebay soon for my Aussie counterparts however don't expect them to be cheap. The customs has added a LOT to the overall price I need to sell to recoup my expenses.:crybaby:

the term "a lot" is subjective. I think $3 is a lot for a gallon of milk. Others may not.

State how much the tariff was or as % of the cost of the flares.

It was cheaper for me to buy a few rather than one...

Not really. Any goods imported into Oz with a value of less than A$1000 are tariff/import tax free. If you'd bought one set at USD150.00 or whatever the price was and then paid for shipping that single set from Surabaya (shipping is not included in the value for gatekeeper-handout purposes), your customs duties/fees/tarriffs/theft/whatever would have been quite reasonable - i.e. zero.

Sorry mate, I'd help you out and buy a set off you but I'm going skinnys on split rims next time so they'd look funny.

I'm sure you'll make lots of sales on ebay though.

Good luck.

Sorry, it was shipping costs that were working out cheaper not tax. All up for $2000 worth of goods (which incidentally were valued at only $340US on the invoice) it cost me a further $1200 to get them in the country. So what's that, about 60%? A bloody rip off. Not happy.

Bastards. Sounds like one of the people with the funny blue shirts has done some creative "valuation" on your consignment. If it was only valued at USD340 on the docket, then the extra $1200 at the border shouldn't have happened.

All goods (except for tobacco products and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if their value is $1,000 or less.

Imported goods arriving otherwise than by post will require the completion of a Self Assessed Clearance (SAC) declaration before clearance from Customs control
SAC declarations can only be lodged electronically
no cost recovery charges are imposed by Customs on SAC declarations but administrative/processing charges may be imposed by carriers acting on your behalf.
Where the carrier of your goods has sufficient information available to be satisfied that no duty or taxes apply and that no import permit is required, they may lodge the SAC declaration on your behalf
it is understood that the major express couriers will do so
where duty or taxes apply (for tobacco products and alcoholic beverages) and/or an import permit is required, you will be contacted and notified of the action you must take.
If the carrier cannot, or will not, lodge a SAC declaration on your behalf, you may either
obtain a digital certificate in order to communicate with Customs' electronic systems to enable you to lodge a SAC declaration;
OR
engage the services of a customs broker or bureau to lodge a SAC declaration on your behalf.

Ref: When buying over the internet

I'd be kinda pissed off if it were me and probably would lodge an appeal to get my $1.2 Large back.

It sounds to me like they must calculated their thievery on each SET being worth USD340. Definitely appeal that one mate.

Bump for extensions

I am taking delivery of my 1st FJ40 in the next few days and really want to see how this group buy is going as I would like to get in on the next one.

I'm in for 4 of them; what's the status? Also would like some of the other stuff....sent a PM but no reply.

Thank you

Thank you, Mr. Ferociousfish.

I would like to thank you, Mr. Ferociousfish.

And I feel so sad about the amount of money that you paid for the custom duty.

I have told my shipping agent about this.
I asked the shipping agent, why it could happened like this?

The shipping agent said, the custom in Australia 'maybe' miscalculated the custom duty.
Because the total value of products in the invoice is only USD 340.00. But the custom duty is more higher..

Anyway, I am really sorry to hear about that.

Once again, thank you for your comment, rating me too high.
I am not deserve to receive your compliments.
I feel so shy, but I also feel very satisfied.

At least, once in my lifetime..I can do something special for you and all members in Ih8mud.com.

Hope you like it so much.....

Dear Mr. John Spies

Dear Mr. John Spies,

I am sorry to reply you late.
Because I am in Singapore right now.

I usually use a mobile phone to receive an email.
And I cannot get the access to the internet in Singapore by mobile phone, because it will be very expensive on my mobile phone billing.

Now, I open my favourite website (Ih8mud.com) at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
But there is a time schedule to use the internet facility here.
And a lot of people want to use this facility.
There are only 2 units computer available in internet room, at this hospital.

Please forgive me, because I reply you late..

For all other members from Ih8mud.com, who are interested or need my help..please send an email to info@benangjahit.com / info@bursabaju.com.

It will be my pleasure to answer your email.

Thank you.

Fender Flares

For anyone in United States, who can organize to help our friends there.
Perhaps can organize some friends at Ih8mud.com for each state in United States.

So, this is the best way to distribute the fender flares to our friends in United States.

Because I can reduce the shipping cost.
So we can save more money for the shipping cost.

If anybody interested to help me and our friends at Ih8mud.com, please don't be hesitate to ask me, you can send an email to info@benangjahit.com / info@bursabaju.com.
