Anyone fit group 31 AGM to stock battery location?
How do you extend the battery terminal? The ground might be a bit harder. I think the battery terminal I got now will work on the positive side. It's the ground side that might need some work as the battery clamp is integrated to the ground harness on my 05.

Don't like Slee's solution. It's made out of steel or stainless which is not as good as copper for conducting electricity.

I got a Duracell 31agm battery to fit with minor work. I'm using the slee military terminals. I found that different brands have varying dimensions even though all are group 31.

For positive, I removed the the ring and used the eyelets for positive and fuse box cable. For negative, there was enough extra slack in the harness to work without military terminal. Then I got a new 4gauge wire for ground as well as longer j-hooks. Eventually, I will redo the negative side with military terminal as well. Hope this helps!

These batteries can also be offered in reverse terminal set up. I have a Group 34 Odyssey with reverse terminals, which brings the negative closer to backside of the battery. Looks like they make one in the 31 size as well.

@Khnguyen714 thanks for the picture. That is really helpful. I got a custom terminal that extend the positive a bit. You are exactly right that the terminal location are not the same for all group 31. The one I am looking for are around 3.77" from the edge. My current positive terminal are about 3.5" from the edge. I think I can copy your negative arrangement.

@chiz45. Thanks for info. I got to stick to Bass Pro Shop X-900 group 31M battery which is a rebranded Northstar. The only reason are just because I got almost that amount in gift card. So it's almost zero cost to me. I would settle with 27F if they got one. Unfortunately group 27 would give me even worse battery terminal location.

I found that it's the positive side that has the least slack with these post location. I was dreading to not have to mess with the fuse box harness. Luckily, with the slee terminals it worked out. GL!

Group 34 Odyssey

Pictures show my initial and current set up.

My final solution was making new cables from welding wire. It's incredibly easy to do. The cable has finer copper strands, it's more pliable and conducts better.

Prior to running these cables, I just got all the slack from my negative cable from the engine block and frame, then drilled a new hole for the inner fender ground cable. I ran a 10mm bolt through the hole and had no issues. I was able to position the cable close enough to hit the terminal with no issues.

@ArBrnSnpr, that it neat.
It looks like the post is in similar location between Odyssey 34 and Northstar 31M. So it looks like I would be able to do similar to your initial setup to get me going.

I've mentioned it in another thread, but I'd be concerned about the battery rubbing up against the upper radiator hose. I really wanted to put a group 31 in there, but decided to stick with the X2Power 27F to be in the safe side. If it is a non issue please report back. Thanks!

Mine has been in there for over a year of daily driving and weekly wheeling. There's over 1/4" of clearance when flexed. I have zero concerns with it rubbing.

I have one. I chose to extend the body ground wire and the positive lead to the fuse panel. Ideally, I should have replaced the connectors on the other leads, but it has been working as is for a long time now (2 years maybe?).

Got it installed. Got to make a new short ground cable to bolt to the fender. Also got to make new positive cable for my switch panel. Other that that everything seems to bolt up. The radiator hose are about 1/4" away.

Was planning to use wing nuts on the stud post for winch cable, but it does not fit. The radius of the wing nut is too big and would not clear the SAE battery terminal. Need to install a disconnect for it.
