Hi all, been having quite a difficult time with my rear brake install (just swapping in new OEM pads and rotors) on my ‘01 LX470. After the install, I hear a grinding and took it apart and noticed a light gouged ring on the inside passenger side pad and on that side of the rotor. I pulled it back apart and noticed a shiny mark on the dust sheild where it was apparently scraping. I hammered that point back so it would hopefully not touch anymore and put it back together. Much improved but was still getting some grinding sounds. I went ahead and bent the sheild back all the way around the rotor—only to find out if I do that then it bumps into the caliper. So I put it back to “stock” the best I could.

Unfortunately after all my efforts, it’s still making a scraping sound when I turn. If I turn right, the left rear wheel scrapes, and if I turn left, the right rear wheel scrapes.

I’ve been at this for two whole days. Anyone got ideas for me? Gotta drive this thing for like 3 hours on the highway today.

I just did my rear brakes but didn't have that problem. It looks like that's what @abuck99 did (after a little grinding).

I replaced my rear brake pads and rotors a few months ago and had the same problem. It was admittedly the first time had done this and the video linked in this thread was really helpful. The grinding issue I caused was due to the parking brake shoes being out of alignment. When I pulled the first rotor off I did not have the parking brake shoes fully backed off and forced the rotor off and in the process damaging the hold back pins. Both pins were stretched out in the process and when going around corners would rub against the rotor but only when turning left or right. I ordered new pins, pulled everything back apart, replaced them and the grinding went away. You might not have the same issue but that was mine.
