i fianally got my 60 back on the road yesterday. the 2f motor is running as good as can be expected with 285000 miles no work has ever been done to it other than whative done wicth consist of a new power steering pump new alternator ,weber carb kit ,intake and exhaust manifold gasket,partial desmog"" ive still got to do something witj air pump'''' and of course new shocks. i love the 60 but i dont think i or any one else can ride very long in the back seat .this is the roughest ride ever . the shocks did not help at all.by reading the threads im sure my springs are gone, my back is a testimony that something is definatly not right after one ride.i also put 31X10.50 15'' tires on it .i dont neccesarly wont a lift kit but i would like to know what kinda springs to go with, how long do the last, can u put helper springs on them and load them up. if i get a set of used springs is there any reason to think thell be in any better shape than the ones ive got. also the 60 seems to running good i cant see at night so i would like to change the headlights, but what other maintance do i need to do to keep a truck with 285000 miles on it, short of rebuilding the whole thing. oh yea i forgot i did change plugs wire dist and oil change. thanks for the help so far i love this place.

Why doncha post photos of the springs that are currently on the truck, so we can get a look at the amount of sag they have.
I agree that you are on the right track: flat springs do ride rough.

As for other basic maintenance also change the oil in your tranny, t-case and diffs.
The poor lights are probably due to old wiring. Switching up to a different light might help such as the Sylvania Silverstar (do a search). Also making sure you have good grounds might help.
As for the springs pics will help. I don't believe helper springs will do much. Also if you are going to put in used springs with questionable benefit than I would probably go new. Mostly because of the time and labor involved, I would rather do it once and do it right.
