Is a TLCA Open Event different than a TLCA Sanctioned Event?

Yes, Open is open to anyone (TLCA member or not). Sanctioned requires TLCA membership. One of the big reasons for doing an Open event is to allow for non-TLCA members to come experience a TLCA event and hopefully see what the TLCA comradarie is all about. I know it got me hooked when I attend my first TLCA event at CM07!

Right now we are closing in on 10 registrations. Things have been slow thusfar. Our goal is 30 by then end of June and 100 by the end of July.

As far as "events" at the event, we are planning on a Rock Rumble, Ball and Barrell Race, Trust Your Spotter and for the folks with kids, the Sippie Cup Challenge.

More information can be found at the event site, Great American Toyota Offroad Rally

Thanks for the inquiry!

This is a great idea and thanks to the hosting Chapters!

Art, shoot me a PM with some specifics I can relay at Rubithon, PMC swap meet and McGrew Trail ride. I can also send along some shirts from those events to toss out at GATOR.

and regs always start slow and peak right before the event... it must be a Toyota thing. :-)

That's good to know. I was worried, but then that's part of my job :)

Cruise Moab usually fills mostly up within the first few weeks, then all the way up by a month or two after registration opens. The last couple years have been a little easier with Neil Quigley's  awesome work in getting our BLM permit upped from 150 to 200 registrants.

Cruise Moab requires you to register early if you want to do certain trails. The smaller events do have this issue as you can wheel anywhere you want.
