Grand Canyon trails and remote camping?

Looking to go to the Grand Canyon this weekend. Coming from Vegas, headed to Phoenix. Where are the best camp sites? Looking for remote and beautiful! Any help would be appreciated!

North or South rim?

Get a back country permit from the ranger's office at Pipe Springs and you can camp along North Rim at Toroweap or Kanab Pt. If you go all the way to the visitor center on the North Rim, then hit the nearby back country permit office and head to Point Sublime (about 22-25 miles of unpaved road) or extend even further to Swamp Point (another 25 miles past Pt Sublime).

Looks like South Rim might be a better location for my timing. The North Rim is too far out of the way. Looking for South Rim recommendations I suppose.

I have never been to this point on the south rim but it looks like it is off the beaten track and has a great view:

More than likely the North Rim is closed or very close to it.

If going to the South will you be entering from the East or West end and what are you interested in seeing besides the big hole in the ground.
