I've searched and read and still feel confused so I'm gonna ask.
I'm driving down to Baja (or beyond) from Vancouver. Most of my trip will be on road, but I will be venturing off road and exploring.
I'd like to use the Full Mexico Maps from Mexico Maps - GPS maps from BiciMapas and Garmin another site with info on it is Full Mexico Atlas . These are topo maps with street detail I believe. I might not have the luxury of having a laptop with me so I'd need to be able to load the whole map before I leave.
On road I at the very least need to have a birds eye view of where I am and the surrounding streets so I can manually find myself around if I get lost. Auto routing not necessary as I know it would be difficult to use for Mexico, unless someone can confirm they've had success.
Off road at the very least I'd need to be able to follow my track back to a main road in case I get lost. Being able to save tracks and use them in the future is not necessary, but would be nice. Being able to know my Lat @ Long would be nice too.
Now I've heard of difficulties with the Nuvi line and these maps. Not sure exactly what everyone talks about, but would they work with these Topo maps? Can I even load them to the internal memory or an SD card? I like the Nuvi's just because I could use them back in the city and I know they are good for that. But the main use is for Mexico
And last but not least since I'm going to Mexico, I don't want anything too valuable, its just gotta do the job.
Nuvi I've been thinking about it the 250w, but also looking at those Garmin 76 series.
Thanks
