I am wanting to get a military trailer and use it as my camp rig. i have been looking on governmentliquidation.com at the M105A2 trailers
http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=6416494&convertTo=USD

I saw a guy local that bought one from there, and the trailer was was cool.

So, anyone buy one from there? your experience? how did the trailer work? how heavy?
My 80' is not a huge powerhouse, so not looking to have a tremendously heavy trailer.

Thanks

I had one of the M116-A trailers. Built hella stout, but man, that thing was a PIG! Really, really heavy and awkward to move around when not hitched up, poorly balanced, etc. It hard surge brakes, axle brakes, and I liked the pintle/lunette ring, but I'd never get one again---waaaaay too heavy and only rated to carry 2,500 lbs.

I do like the smaller Canadian trailers (404 I think?) check over in the expedition trailer forum, lot's of good info there!

I have a m101a2. Too much to tow behind my 80 I think. Too heavy. A Bantam t3 would be a good trailer I think

The M116-A has a relatively low capacity, in part, because it is usually towed fully loaded. It serves as the base for generators and various other heavy gear. people have successfully put them on a "diet" and used the trailer as a base for some interesting builds. But yeah, don't buy one if it doesn't suit some pretty specific needs versus a more general purpose cargo trailer.

The Canadian trailer I think you are referring to is the 1/4 ton M101 CDN. Do NOT confuse it with the similarly numbered, but higher capacity US 3/4 ton M101 series. I doubt you'll see any of the Canadian trailers offered through Gov't Liquidation. They were suprlussed out by the Canadians some years back and are all pretty much in private hands at this point.

In general, a 1/4 ton trailer is a much more useful size to have around, unless you have some heavy duty hauling needs. You won't see many US 1/4 ton trailers on GL, as US forces have generally switched over to larger trailers by now.

Livelarg,

The M105 is for a 2 1/2 ton truck. I have two of them, which came from Ok. They are way too heavy and tall for your truck. I can pull them with my 5500 flatbed.

The M101 is a 3/4 ton rated trailer and much better suited to pull with a smaller type truck, although they are stout!

Great for the money, many guys use them for camping trailers.

I also have a m101a2. But I have the 1HD-T, so I don't notice any difference in fuel mileage between towing and not towing.
The trailer itself tracks like a ruler and is built like a brick s*** house.

I recommend.

yes, 105 way too big and heavy for regular use with an 80. Even 101 is marginal for offroad uses I think.
