I received my new 2003 TLC back today from the shop after the 2.5" OME Lift and Toyo AT II Tires. I have to say that this thing looks and drives amazing. I am excited about this new project. My last few project vehicles have been go fast cars, but this is a totally different deal for me and I like it!!! The fifth wheel fit perfectly underneath for now with the new tire as well.

Next up...

Sliders
Front & Rear Bumpers
Roof Rack

Here is the original look

Beautiful truck!! I love that color. Looks like you got a little scrape on your front right, what're your plans for bumpers? Any specific brands in mind? Please keep us updated!

Looks sweet!

Very nice! Did you go medium or heavy on the OME lift? And what size are those tires?

Yeah, the scrape isn't a big deal because I plan on changing them. If it bothers me too bad, I can have our body shop fix it for pretty cheap. I don't think that it will get to that point. I am in this thing right, so I am ready to spend a little money and get those few additional items added. Now I just need to get some miles and get it out in the dirt for a bit. It only has 61k on it now. Thanks for the comment. I am really excited about this thing.

275/70/R18 They fit nicely. I love the look of these Toyos and they ride very well. I went with the medium lift.
Thanks for the info, really looks great.

Looks great. Just replaced my DD with an 04 100 two weeks ago. I've been considering that same set up.

What are your initial thoughts on the ride quality after the lift?

My first 45 miles or primarily interstate driving left me very happy. It drives very well. It feels the way it should IMO. I took off a set of slightly worn Michelins that the PO had on. The tires Toyos are quieter than I expected. The suspension feel very good and the visual stance is amazing. It looks much better in person than the picture portray. So far I am more than pleased with the setup. I hope to get off road in the near future, but since I have only had this for a week, I won't have a stock comparison to evaluate. Good luck.

Congrat for the new rig! Time to put on slider, bull bar and rear tire carrier!! Let the fun begins. :bounce::)

Nice, I bought a pair of nerf bars on eBay for $15 (nobody else bid) years ago and they're looking pretty bad. If you want to sell the running boards, let me know. Sent you a PM.

I have a pair I'll sell you if you need some. Let me know.

Hi Nick,

I've been looking into getting a lift as well for my 02 so I've been trying to do my research. Did you do a kit like the Slee ( shocks all around, rear coils, torsion bars ) ? I was asking a guy this weekend at the overland rally and he said he only did rear shocks/springs and cranked up the front. Now it wasn't a deep technical conversation so he may have been summarizing, but basically I'm trying to figure out my options and costs. The Slee kit is about $1200 or $1700 with UCA's.

Also, if you had it installed, can you give a rough estimate of costs for the install ? I had one shop say its probably a 2 day job ( again a bonfire chat, not an estimate), which I can imagine would be quite pricey. I'd have to figure what my total cost options are. Though, I've had a few people offer to help, so its an option but I'd still like to figure out options/costs to get it done.

Thanks Much
Oz

PS - Looks awesome

Looking pretty good there NickFL. What rack are you planning on installing?

I had the kit with the shocks, springs, and torsion bars. I did not do the UCAs. I am not going to be a good gauge of cost. I got an exceptional deal. I am the new car sales director for a Toyota dealership, so the company we use for lifts and 4x4 accessories got all the parts and did the install for me. I am not technical enough or have the time to do stuff like this myself, but for the price I got it was a no brainer, plus they warranty the work for me.

Looking pretty good there NickFL. What rack are you planning on installing?

I am either going with a custom rack or the BIOR rack.

The BIOR rack is a great looking rack and perfect for mounting an RTT. I'm considering that one myself. He did a fantastic job on my sliders. If you go with that rack I'd like to cruise over and check it out in person. Keep me posted!

Lifting these trucks is very easy in my opinion, and if you've got offers for help by somebody who knows what they're doing, you could do it yourself in an afternoon.
I've got an almost-new set of rear Old Man Emu 860 coils that need a new home on somebody's Cruiser.
PM me if you're interested.
