That is a bad idea IMHO.

How many examples do you want?
Superlift, Fabtech, Rancho, Rubicon Express and even the Black Diamond cruiser coilover kit was adjustable.

There are too many variables not to leave the adjustability.

a 40's frame is commonly tweaked. So even if you spend hours measuring and making sure that you are correct the axle may still be off a bit.

1/4" can make a huge diference..

besides, why not be able to adjust your pinion angle?

i was out of town but...i am back.

yulp...i am making them adjustable...if i measured it a 100 times i know it would still be off..the jimmy joints look nice but i cant run somthing that is not adjustable....thanks for the pics and the info tho..

HZ why dint ya four link your 60? instead of the lift leaf springs?

Im familiar with all those companies. HOW are they adjustable? Come on. Let me in on it. NONE of those control arms are adjustable (length wise) So let me in on it.

I don't want to argue with you here. Lets start another thread..

I look forward to seeing some pics and the progress Al. I am considering a custom front link set-up on my 80 in the future. THis thread will help a ton.

http://www.skyjacker.com/image/search/pdf/TJR641K-DX.pdf Skyjackers front TJ suspension kit uses rod ends at the upper location.

http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/html/jeep_yj-tj-xj-zj.html FabTech's 6-8" HighCrawler shows heims at the frame and axle side.

http://www.rubiconexpress.com/dynamic/mainpage.asp?folderid=185 Rubicon Express extreme duty XJ kit has adjustable links, not heims tho....

An obervation tho....if a kit relies on the stock factory mounts for their installation, they do see to use fixed/non-adjustable mounts...howver, since many of the larger lift kits also use custom installed bracketry, they provide the adjustability to compensate for the minor install variables that occur.

Dynamics of a race car is an exelent book on geomertry. Cant rember the authors name though.

Al, you got any update pics?

Not yet...like i said earlier, i've decided to wait til after GSMTR so my rig is not apart. Becuase i really really dont want to miss the event I've been getting my rig ready for the last few months...

But the plan has been pretty much sketched out of how its going to be set up.

the only thing left hanging is the threaded insertes for the links so i can make the heim joints adjustable....how would i weld the threaded inserts in?

Or better yet is there a place where i could take my links to get threaded to run the hiems???

thanks for asking tho concrete....dont worry dude your springs wont go to waste.. they will be under my truck before you know it...hope to see ya at GSMTR...we willl have to shoot the s*** then..

Over and out for now,
-Al

Al, if you want to use inserts, polyperformance sells them. You just slide them in the tube(nice and snug fit) and weld the joint. The adapters will have a nice shoulder that will keep them from sliding all the way in. You can also drill holes in the tube before sliding the adapters in so that you can plug weld the adapaters as well as butt-weld the seam.

Cool Al, didn't know you were waiting. I'm not worried about the springs at all, i'm sure they will be put to good use, hell i was going to make a coffee table with them.

Dude, i'm kinda bummed right now about GSMTR, i lost my job two weeks ago, so i can't really afford to throw down the cash, especially if i was to break something. We'll see, if there is still a spot left i might try to scrape some money together.

Later,

Alex

damn dude....well if you want to drive there your more than welcome to s*** shot gun in my rig....
