Well, my beloved HJZ80 got sold and left behind in Morocco, so I am now on the hunt stateside for another LC to take to my next post.

I've found a decent LC100 with about 100k miles. Full tilt on options, which really doesn't interest me, but I'd like to know what my mechanical concerns should be at or around this mileage. Body is great, appears to run well, assuming oil guage is calibrated to run at 1/2 during normal idle, that looks good too.

I'd be looking to get about 20k miles out of this without any major service. No service records. What kind of PM and targeted inspections should I be making?

Also, looking for a good source on replacement dash trim. This unit has some issues with the burlwood trim pieces.

Asking price on this is about $15,000, by the way.

B&I purchased the company that used to make some of the dash trim kits for toyota. I emailed them and they recommended their retailer trimstop.com

It fit nicely and they were great to deal with

A good place to start is the FAQ on the 100 series, Newbie guide/inspection of vehicle. I'm guessing the rig needs a 90k service, look for timing belt sticker on resonator box under hood- if you're lucky, this was done. Won't hurt to have a trusted mechanic friend take a look as well.

Good luck to you on the purchase.

Year modewould be helpful in determining worth and possible mechanical issues.

Timing belt, timing belt, timing belt... Just be sure it's had that changed at or around the 90k mark. Ohter than that, my wife has a 98' with 250k miles and the only thing that went out was the rear seat heater coil (or whatever is back there). My hundy is also a 98' with 180k and ready to do a timing belt. never had to do anything other than maintence on both of them. They are just breaking in at the 100,000 mile mark.
