Good trans. shop in SEATTLE???

I picked up a sweet 85 FJ 60 for the wife (her snow mobile) only thing that is wrong with it is it will need front and rear main seals.

I have had a used h55f transmission that I purchased from a guy in Australia for pennies....cost me almost twice what I paid for it to have it shipped. Looks to be in good condition and only had 180km on it when truck was totaled. I just want someone to check it out before I put it in replacing a perfectly good 4spd when I go after that rear main.

Took into a local shop and they did not want to touch it....not knowing anything about that trans

Thanks Chris

I've heard that these aren't too hard to rebuild. Are you going to do the front and rear mains? If so, since the tranny is out anyway, why not give it a go?

Congrats on your purchase.

Don't know if this can help you or not, but if you're ever in the Portland area here's a couple of Landcruiser only specialists that I'm sure could offer up an opinion on that trans:

Over The Hill 4X4

Landcruiser Northwest

My son attends a school across the street from Landcruiser NW and there is always five to ten different LC's there on any given day. It's actually quite a site. Never gone in there though...

If you want a tranny shop I highly recommend Dean Transmission. They did a great job with my A440 and tcase. They did some custom tuning of the valve body and used a McNamara input gear (that I supplied) in the tcase. They're in downtown Seattle.

Over the Hill also does great work and might be a better place to handle the non usa h55f. I recently had them regear my axles, put an air locker in the rear and do a couple of other projects I didn't have time to get to this past summer. W and James did a great job and I really liked their attention to detail. Plus you've got to see W's FJ-55!
