Just had a few items sandblasted at Superior Sandblasting in Medway MA. The guy is retired and only does it a couple days a week. Cost me $25 for a rim to be sandblasted which I thought was real reasonable.

their number is 800-926-2854. the guy goes to the Cape alot so I don't think he answers the phone directly ever but he was quick and good.

(Maybe we should start and "Angie's List" type thread where we recommend good places we've worked with??)

i went to Logan Steel in Meriden CT - 1150 Old Colony Road. he had it done in a week.. it was all this pictured here including both driveshafts, a bellhousing and a 2F air cleaner for $200 cash.

not sure if it is a good deal or not.. i felt a little ripped off.. but man it was nice to see some clean parts..

I think he quoted me $100 for 4 rims as well.

$200 doesn't seem too bad. think of the hours you saved from grinding.

yeah sandblasting can be expensive around these parts.. i got a couple quotes recently to do a hood and it was @ $300-$400.. i'll have to check out this place in medway.. thanx for the tip.

he said a hood would be too fragile but I don't think he grasped the thickness of the old hoods. He'd prolly do it for $100

It's a pretty low budget operation and he's old school so I don't think it's anything past basic. No walnut shells to save the environment etc. It's a 4 car steel building behind his house.

He does have some amazing Pace-Arrow cars that are mint. very interesting car guy to talk to. It used to be a resto shop but now he just tinkers for fun.

He is actually. He's on the corner behind the white residential house at the entrance to that little industrial park. It also says automotive restoration on the sign which is on that side street.

Guys
I'm probably gonna have him do my frame. He's done a Jeep Body on a jeep board at a great price $125, thats how I found him I called him a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dick Williams Nice guy to talk to over the phone. Once I finish getting all the the small junk off the frame I'm gonna drop it off for him to blast and then get it Galvanized I think.

I am not sure I would sand blast a hood, the warpage potential is high. I had mine garnett blasted and it worked out mint. There is so much flat and semi curved material there it would be hard to keep the heat down.
:hhmm:

i'll also let you guys know how my next venture turns out... it is competitive edge powder coatings in hartford.. they will blast, clean, weld (if they find cracks), and powder coat my frame for $500-$600 is what was quoted to me over the phone.. i would imagine they might just blast stuff too.. i'll find out next week.

$65 per wheel and $50ish for a valve cover.

I'm looking for a local powder coater in MA to do my steelies.. applied plastics just quoted me $85 PER WHEEL !! MAN have they gone up since i payed $45 per wheel there 6 years ago.. NO THANX.

anyone know a good place?

second request looking for a powder coating shop in the boston area...

anyone have any luck with the DIY kits for small stuff?

Is Superior Sandblasting in Medway MA still in business? I gave them a ring but no answer. I need my rear bumper blasted.

the guy is retired and works a couple days a week at sporadic hours. best bet I'd say is to drop by

OK thanks.
