This looks like a good option for someone who does not want a full roof rack.

I ran 80/20 cross bars for a while and love options like these ruggidized crossbars. But for $529 you are a few hundred bucks away from a Prinsu which has substantially larger square footage and lower profile.

And if you are an LX owner, you have to tack on the cost of a TLC rack retrofit:

I think if they were a little cheaper it would be a no brainer for someone who doesn't need a full length rack.

I agree...the price is steep for what you are getting, since all it really seems to be doing functionally is giving you a flat spot to mount things too compared to OEM crossbars. It's not any bigger than the OEM rack, and you can add OEM style crossbars for much cheaper if you want 4.

They do have bars for LXs now, but of course they aren't compatible with the other LC stuff. They also offer 3/4 length rails now that replace the LX/LC rails and work with the LC width cross bars. The full replacement rack isn't a bad deal at $900 (comes with 6 cross bars). The rails alone are $500.

The rails are 1/8' stainless steel. Is that sturdy enough for an awning?

And to this point the LX in the photo has LC rails.

Personally I’ve always thought wider crossbars have much more utility then safari racks. Having 66” (After 10 years I’m going up to 78”) yakama round bars on LC rails I can put way more things up there then a Prinsu Rhino, or similar.

78” Bars are great! Different racks for different needs though I guess. I never understood trying to use a $1000 safari rack to carry things like boats and bikes when there are better ways.

I keep 8020 crossbars on all the time for random hauling, then I can put the Yakima 78s on in about 5 minutes when I need them. Best of all worlds.

Nice.
Sidebar- what wheels are those?
Apologies for quick off topic.

I’ve had my 66” bars for close to 20 years. Had them on a 80 before my 200. On the 66” I regularly do double rocket boxes, a canoe and my skinny basket, a box and 2 extra bikes (primary for bikes is a north shore on the hitch), canoe and skinny basket.
Looking at 78” so I can do my RTT and skinny warrior basket.

And like you said one of the best things is I can take the feet/crossbars on/off in <5 min

Alpha equipt - command, gray, 17” +35 offset.

Tire rack will tell you they don’t fit over the hub. But they do.

You may require special lugs to fit these as well? Seems like more than one person reported that. Just a heads up in case you do order them.

Here is better pictures of the truck/wheels. I tried to get a deal on RWs for years, but I’m in Alaska with limited market and expensive shipping. Finally gave up and got these when tire rack put them on sale. I was at ~$2400 for 5 wheels+tires (285/70-17) +TPMS+mounted/balanced and shipped to AK. Sold my OEM 20’s for $1250. They fit well and I had to minimally adjust the front mud flaps.

I feel like an idiot having to revive this 2 year old thread, but the Yakima accessories are completely overwhelming... What item(s) do I need to mount the round crossbars to my factor LC200 rails? I need the 78" bars to haul 2 canoes. I used 2x4s and some janky clamps on my 100, but I'm trying to keep it classy with the new truck.

These towers. As for bar width, it depends on how big the canoes are. I have 66” and carry one canoe, I’d like to upgrade to 78”.
