Most likely Tucson although sometimes end up in Phoenix.....Costco is in both places! The when is the harder part....most likely not for a couple of months.

I've got a good buddy in Tucson that may know of something used. He's got some Cannondales.

This is just out of your budget, but it would be a dream ride:

Holy compressed vertebrae! Zaskars were notoriously rigid.

A bike that stiff will teach you to ride in rough terrain though.

Actually the photo you had is not the GT Zaskar LE which was made in 2000. It is the GT Zaskar TEAM edition hardtail which was made in 2001. The reason I know this is because I just got one last week! I REALLY LOVE THIS BIKE. And yes it is a STIFF, FAST bike.

Nevermind... just noticed that this thread was 10 months old.... I just deleted 3 paragraphs of pulitzer quality material about the Redline MC.

I have rode BMX for ten years and have always known Redline to produce a good product for a good price. I'm in the mix for a good Mt. bike as well and am seriously considering this bike.

Redline Monocog. Cheap, reliable, nearly indestructable, as close to zero maintenance as you can get, probably less likely to get stolen that a high-zoot full-suspension bike. You can get them with 29" wheels, but for a big kid, I'd recommend standard 26" wheels for reliability.

I agree with Fast Eddy. The Redline is the best bang for your buck. I tested a few 29ers and decided on the Redline. If you want a reliable no nonsense bike that you can beat the hell out of go for the RL. The one pictured has IS disc mounts if you want up grade the brakes later. The Sanko steel frame is a beast and with the 29's it will roll over just about anything. Now if you want to spend around $1100 you could get the RL mono 9 Set up with SCRAM X9 in the rear and Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes. Although the newer model is set up with SCRAM X7 and BB5's cost a bit less too. I am all about efficiency function over form whatever. The RL is a sweet ride the you can throw anything at plus it looks great on top of the 80.
