Anybody know a GOOD alignment shop in the Triangle area? I know they are a dime a dozen on every corner, but I'm looking for someone that can align the 200 after lift install. From what I understand, I don't need upgraded UCAs if I find a good tech that actually knows what they are doing. I know a lot of shops throw guys on the machine after an hour training, and that's the type of person that likely won't be able to get it right.

Let me know when you find one, LOL. Last shop I used to align laura's car said "idk why, but I won't be able to get it right without drilling new strut tower bolts"

...yeah, just give me the car back thanks...

LOL. At least they were honest about their level of expertise!

Maybe call the contact at Fred Anderson for Arb. His name was in the Arb bumper thread.

There was one tech there a while back that had 20 years experience with land cruisers.

Plus they sell Arb lifts.

Or maybe chase at east coast gear supply. They do lifts as well.

I went to the place @fourtrax mentioned but for some reason I thought they closed?

Anyway, Southern Wake Automotive at Penny and Ten-Ten is good, the guys are racers on the weekend and will let you go into the shop to review work. I just talked with them about aligning the GX once I get these UCA's installed, explained they are adjustable, they said no problem at all...

good point joe. i didn't check that out.

Sounds like a winner right there. Would you trailer it there after lift install or could we get it close enough for the trip back?

Fuquay Tire and Automotive. Intially I went up there to talk to them about correcting caster on the Land Cruiser with adjustment bolts and also explained that my toe was off. Instead he put the Cruiser up on the lift, hooked up the machine, and adjusted toe for no charge. He just said bring it back when I was ready to do the caster. I scheduled an appointment and went back two weeks later to adjust for caster. I explained everything to them and while they didn't fully understand, they listened to my request and did everything perfectly. He pulled the front control arm bolts, installed the new adjustment bolts on top, and then adjusted tightened the bolts down for 2.9* and 3.1* caster which is dead center for OE spec. Total for the alignment was $85 butI was quoted $95+ from others in the area, so I tipped the alignment guy $10 for being so patient with me.

Thanks folks. These are some promising leads!

Jon, this shop is within 5 miles of @mtweller, and is maybe 3-4 mi from my home if that's what you're asking?

Hmmm, that would mean I'd have to beg/borrow/steal more of your time (and resources). I need to research and see if driving is that far is an option.

Jon has graciously agreed to let me install the lift at his badass shop! Should make the project pretty quick and easy!

Southern Wake Automotive - shop not far from my house. Turned out fine, but sometime in the not so distant future I'll probably upgrade the UCAs.

I'm looking at the JBA UCA's for my Tundra. The JBA's take a standard ball joint instead of uniball and are a little cheaper than most of the other big names. With ball joints you don't have to worry about about greasing or getting grit into the uniball joint and wearing it out.
