Got on the horn to "chassis unlimited" today and got one of these ordered:
http://www.chassisunlimited.com/product/battery-tray/chassis-unlimited-motorhead-group-34-optima-battery-mount.html

This should let me keep the factory box since the front to back dimension is the tight one, there is plenty of room for the top hold down bolts on the side. Gonna plasti-dip it i think when it gets here. I should have it first of next week for mounting and finishing up my electrical work before next weekend. Maybe even get my LED bar wired to try out in the dark.

That's a serious battery box. Mine seems to be holding up fine with the stock hold down at the moment. The AGM battery I bought is slightly shorter than the factory battery though. I might end up going with something like that eventually. How does it mount?

Yeah, it's a beast, but I figured if I was going to replace it I might as well get something that I knew wouldn't give me any problems. My factory box and J hooks are letting the battery slide around too much. That movement is what caused the battery to shift and the fusible link to separate at GSMTR. I have looked at a bunch and with the overflow bottle the front to back dimension is really tight, but there is plenty of room left to right so this looked perfect. It mounts thru the bottom of the box. I am going to try and use the existing holes, but may have to drill a couple in the fender to get the mount good and solid.

I will post up some pictures when it gets here and of my installation.

1 week left! Who's ready? :steer:

Uh, I will give you two guesses as to my current status, and the first one doesn't count...

What did we ever decide about food for Saturday? We just bringing sides or do we need to bring some burgers and such too?

I also hope the sun burns some @$$ the next 7 days or we will all be watching Steve and Sam slide around on the connector road, cause with all the rain we've had over the last 2 days around here, unless it gets some serious heat it is gonna be slick.

I don't need any guesses to know your current condition sir.

Food is being provided Saturday night. I was also considering going and getting some burgers and dogs for Friday night but that's still up in the air. I would be willing to do burgers and dogs (buns and such) if you guys want to do sides. Thoughts?

Actually, you guys would probably have better luch than Steve and I if it's real slick. We don't have the speed or momentum for a long slick hill like that. But, we could always just use Michael's method. "Put it in second and just floor it." The funny thing is, every time he told me to do that, it worked perfectly.

We will probably be up on Friday around mid-day. It will depend on what time we can get out.

Will probably be early afternoon for me though. Going to try to leave my house by 8 at the latest. It's about 5 hrs.

Def want to try to get some wheeling in Friday though. I hope to get there, unload the truck, hit the trails for a bit, then come back and set up camp.

Everyone have their mud tires And winches ready ? Long range forecast has rain through Monday then a 20-40% through next weekend. The good news is temps in low 80's.

Still don't have a winch (or a bumper to put it on for that matter) on mine. I got a tow strap though. And I can always just put it in 2nd and floor it.

I'm sure it's going to be pretty messy even if it doesn't rain much more before then. It won't be hot enough for long enough to dry it out before we go. Def welcome the "cooler" weather. I was really not looking forward to the 90-100 degrees.

I'm winch less to, gonna be a fun trip.

Mine is re-spooled and ready, but I need to see about a tree strap though. Hell, if we just ride around a little and then sit and BS, I am good. One good thing is we shouldn't have a repeat of 16 no matter how much it rains. Never more than a few minutes from the pavilion. :)

Sounds sappy I know but I'm just looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, meeting some new ones and using my Toyota for what I built it for. I hate mud and every dent in my runner came from one MUDDY weekend at gmp but mud or not look forward to seeing y'all and at least doing a little wheeling.

Man I wish I could get on the road that early but someone is coming up from Warner Robins to meet me in Macon. I'm going to try to get on the road by 8 at the latest but hopefully sooner than that. Either way it sounds like pretty much everyone is going to beat me there. Does everyone know where to go when they get there? Roger, what time are you getting in?

I should be there about 10 AM, so I get set up in the RV area and be ready to ride when you all get there.
