I am going today to look at a LX470 that I already put a deposit down on but haven't seen in person yet. It's got a little higher mileage but has ever record all from local Lexus dealerships and is being sold from the dealership. I have already seen most of the links that explain some of the things to look for but just here to see if there's anything else I should consider. Also it has 138,000 on it and has had the normal flashings of the AHC fluid but is there a way I can tell if everything is in good shape other then just cycling it up and down.

It's a southern vehicle also so I should t have to worry about any rust.

Search "graduation test", confirm the AVS responds to the four position comfort switch. Fluid level at idle at N height should be between max and min; should raise to H without laboring, this can take a few seconds. When raising its normal for both front and rear to lift simultaneously then the rear and front will independently step up to the final level H height. Its also normal for the front/rear to step down on lowering (to stop headlights being angled up). Shoot me a pm if you have any specifics.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. I'll search for graduation test now.

Is there a local shop or another Toyota/Lexus dealership where you could have it inspected? After putting a deposit on mine, I had a shop I trust check it out really well. A little piece of mind.

Not sure I guess I could take a look. You would trust the Lexus dealership service shop? I'll see if I can find a small independent shop in Raleigh in the area. Maybe I can get it in today. Basic mechanical stuff I could check on my own but the specialty stuff on this particular vehicle is what I'd need help with like the AHC or the hvac system or the radio if there's an issue with any of those items. I plan on looking over every inch of the vehicle and activating every switch, light and function as well as a good test drive.

Yes, and for exactly the later reasoning you cite. Many third-party shops are just not familiar enough with this vehicle's intricacies. Furthermore, many first-party service shops often aren't either, so be sure to inquire with their service team and ask probing questions. Additionally, Lexus shops will do a complimentary multi-point inspection at around $80 or so, that should suffice to give the rig a once-over. They should connect it up to Techstream to also pull any DTCs and check ECU status'.

138K miles is not high - its just broken in :) Congrats!

Wow... White. You've got quite the challenge there :p

Do you plan to mod it any? I would recommend dechroming/degolding via plastidip to the grill and badges. Cheap, easy and effective. There's a few on this forum that've done just that, myself included. On your white LX, it'd look killer and lessen the "Mall Cruiser" image, if that matters to you at all. Additionally, keep your stock alloys as I see they're not chrome and paint them black. Overall sweet rig. Congrats and welcome to the club!

Yea I went back and forth between white, black and grey. I liked the white and grey because they weren't 2 tone so I ended up eliminating the black. Then just waited to see if white or grey showed up that I liked and white just happened first. I do plan on modding it. I like the mall crawler look but it has to be functional. So I guess a form and function design and mod path. I tend to not like a mod that is only form though, to me it needs to serve some sort of function also. I do plan on getting rid or the chrome and gold and do away with a few badges also.

Do you have a white LX? Have a pic of the black emblems.

Right on. My rig is Galactic Gray Mica. A smattering of pics throughout the forum so I'll refrain from adding more, but look up my posts if interested.

Of most probable interest to you, here's a fellow member @Ramathorn15's rig and build thread. White, like yours.

I'll search for yours. I just looked through ramathorns thread. He looks like he has a similar vision to mine. Or at least what I picture in my head.
