I'm looking at a 2006 Tundra Access Cab 2WD with low miles. It has the 4.7L V8 and seems to be in good shape. Any things to be looking for maintenance wise or does this model/year combo have the predictable Toyota reliability?
Air pump going out. Sounds like supercharger whine. Its only noticeable the first 30 or so seconds when starting cold. If its goin it'll cost about 2k to fix properly.
I had a very low mile 1st gen. What to look for is why it has such low miles. In my case it was the truck he used to tow his boat. The rims, u joints, and rear diff got dunked in the water a lot and looked it. It also sat a lot which is not good at all for the fuel lines, brake lines and exhaust. Look carefully for rust underneath from the vehicle sitting.
No problems that were Tundra specific. It was a good truck, just not what I wanted. For towing the 07+ trucks are head and shoulders above the 1st gens.
I also HATED the access cab. I should have known I would because I have a FJC with the same issues. Suicide doors suck. Try putting your groceries in the back seat when someone is parked next to you. You'll want to kill somebody.
