The family ran in the Gobble Jog in Marietta at the square this morning. Carolyn got 2nd in her age group and Melissa improved her time to 23:44, so they had their special treats (rewards) from the race. After the race, I spotted a mustard yellow FJ40 just off the square. It appeared to be fairly stock, possibly a '77 or '78. It is my guess that it is Henry's truck, but I could easily be wrong on this. Here are some of the pictures that I snapped of the truck. Seeing such a nice 40 was my treat from the race.

33 x 10.5 MTR

Also, the 33 x 10.5 mud terrains on the truck were a very nice fit for a stock 40. I do not recall BFG offering 33 x 10.5 when I bought my 33 x 9.5s and this was the first set I had seen before. I liked what I saw. Here is a closer pic of the tire.

Gobble Jog

It is mine, I bought it from Hendog so he could buy his son his first BMW (the one that he wrecked) Henry originally traded his Harley for this beautiful 40. I went to Miami with him to get it and when I saw it , I told him that I would beat him out of it one day. Henry stripped it of its winch and a few other fine pieces. I have put the tire and wheels on it and have fixed a few things. Next is to blast the interior and put some kind of durable finish on it. will be at the Varsity next week... Happy Thanksgiving

Henry,
I was there just as a servant to the wife and kids, so I had no grand expectations for you either. In fact, I was hoping that I wasn't the only one holding the coats and gear for the runners.

Isn't Hays Farm the fairly new really nice 'high' end subdivision on Dallas highway just west of the battlefield park? If so, congrats. The homes there look like a very nice place to live.

Kids seem to be reasons that we loose our Cruisers for one cause or another. Three years ago, Katie was driving my 1st BJ70 when a guy ran a red light & hit her in the drivers door. The insurance company freeked out and totaled it & took it, but it saved her. In a way, your 40 did the same for your kid. In time, maybe you will get an opportunity to get her back.

Congratulations on the truck and hopefully helping Henry out too by keeping it in the Cruiser family. Your choice in the stock rims and BFGs look to be a great match for the truck.

It was my understanding from talking to shops that put down Rhino lining or equivalent was that they prep'd the surface with a rough sanding rather than blasting. Also, I used the Duraliner finish on the bed of my trailer. It was fairly easy to use, but I have found the finish to be softer & less durable than what the shops apply. Therefore, I would recommend stopping in at AutoColor or some other paint supply store to see what else is on the market in a tough finish for home use.

Melissa has a soccer tournament next weekend so we will not be able to drop by the Varsity. We will thinking about you and proud of how you will be representing the Cruiser community.

Henry knows that he can drive it whenever he wants to. About the interior, Drove it to work yesterday in the rain and the roof has a couple of leaks. Looking closer at it today I noticed that where the fiberglass top sits in the rain gutter there is a couple of places that have seperated ( need to figure this out pretty quick) I would like to find original mat for interior (not much luck) Good luck in the tournament, we just finished ours soccer and softball up 2 weeks ago.

FYI McMaster-Carr carries solid rivets that work fine if you need replacements. However, I did cheat a little when I put the rivets back into one of my tops a few years ago. We borrowed a rivet squeezer (from a friend of a friend). It allowed the final length of the rivet to be controlled so the fiberglass was not damaged by rivets 'hammered' too short (i.e., too tight). Also, since the fiberglass top was completely disassembled from the steel rain gutter, we 'wet sealed' all the components back together with auto seam sealer (beads between the gutter & fiberglass plus sealant on each rivet).

... Good luck in the tournament, we just finished ours soccer and softball up 2 weeks ago.

Thanks. This tournament will be the end of the fall season; but winter/indoor soccer starts the next weekend, so there won't be much of a break this winter from soccer.

I got a question.... has anybody ever painted the black fender flares on a 40 to match the paint? I think it would give a cleaner loook. I havnt really looked at many 40's but noticed it on this becuase the color.

Bump from last year!!!
