I've read countless threads on raising the front by adjusting the torsion bars, I hoping this group will confirm or change my thoughts on my plan to get my 01 back to roughly the stock ride height.

My situation is I believe my truck is all stock. I want to leave the rear height alone. Currently i'm seeing a 1" drop left to right on the front. The drivers side being lower. The rear is within a 1/4" which is fine and i'm sure might be level if the front is leveled. If I raise up the drivers front 1" i'll be 2" lower than the rear. If originally there was a 3/4" drop rear to front I'd need to raise the front 1 1/4" to get back to stockish setup, i like the idea of having some cushion in the rear as I will pull a 5x10 trailer often and the rear wont be wayy down compared to the front if i was to make it level front to back..

Would it be best plan to just re index the stock TB's? as it seems 1 1/4" for the passenger side and 2 1/4" for the drivers side seems like a lot and will reduce the down travel or preload on the truck.

I did have the thought i've spending the 1k or so to get the ome kit, new tb's , shocks and diff drop. which may be an option depending on what feedback i get.

Enjoy

Not sure if this will help...

I've measured the (stock settings) front lift at 19 1/2 inches from center of dust cap to lip of fender (drivers side) and 20 1/8 (passenger side). I think this was on a ful tank of gas, but i cant remember and i can't say that it makes much of a difference either. The side to side difference isnt enough for me to bother adjusting, but i will do it someday anyhow.

At those settings, I am getting 3 to 3 1/4 inches droop. the stink bug stance is not too bad IMO, the handling is good, and i dont have any problems with tire or obstacle clearance for the trails i typically travel.

Regarding your lift kit conundrum...

my personal decision has been to tackle other aspects of the truck before lifting. i daily drive the truck, so the stock config is best for me. we also use it as family truckster, moderate technical offroading, towing a light trailer. stock is fine for all these things. a set of air bags will probably be installed before i go to heavier duty springs.

for me the HD "lift" will come someday when i get a permanent payload increase such as bumpers, dual batts, fridge, drawers etc. but even then i will be looking for the lowest ride height i can achieve including keeping the overall rake stock to preserve handling and prevent CV wear. thats just me, i doubt it will help you much :)

I don't think you should have to re index the t-bars. If it is all stock to begin with, it should be as simple as adjusting the preload and getting an alignment afterward. If you have a non factory front bumper that is an entirely different conversation. I'd double check that your measurements are correct, park it in a few different places and recheck. If you are measuring from the ground, check tire pressure is correct all the way around too. Good luck.

All stock bumpers etc

Im pretty close, im at. This is center hub up to the fender lip

21 1/4 ---------20 1/2

19 1/2 ------ 18 3/4

Im thinking when i raise the right front thr rear will be basically level. So i would need to go up 1" on the left front and 1 3/4" on the driver front. I'll raise the driver front first and match the ps as it will change some as i adjust... The truck handles fine at this point , ill stay with a small rake 1/2 to 3/4" and drive a bit and get aligned.

Ive thought about a steel front bumper as i have a small issue on the current bumper and it probably a 400 dollar fix to replace and paint. So spending another 700 to get steel is on my mind then id also go with the whole kit lift. Lol so its 2k or 400 bucks. All the bumper issues i see makes me think a steel one would hold up so much better against getting dinged and dented

Hmm

Ok spent 1/2 hour and got the front to even up at 20 1/4" and the rear evened out as the front adjusted , rear ended up at 21" . Measurements from center cap to btm lip. I put a tape mark 24" from the door on each side. i did the adjustments and drove back and forth and after i felt it was good i drove it around a bit and rechecked at it stayed the same. Time for alignment. Looks much better, driving seemed bout the same.
