The LSLC Roundup will be it's first test off road, but I was tinkering with the Cruiser this AM and tried out the 4LO-LO combination on the Marlin Toybox again....it's so SLOW it's almost useless (175:1)! This is *awesome*, I haven't been able to slow the big beast down on steep trails for a long time, it will be nice to get back to finesse wheeling instead of boucing along!
shifters from above (small).webp

Henry,

Nice picture....I will post mine somday....it will have 4 shifters....

Worth the wait, eh?

It kind of makes all the other mods seem minor doesn't it?

Now you'll have to develop the new technique of stepping on the brake to grab traction as the wheels are spinning (if you can call it that) at 175:1.

You're going to love it!

175:1!! That's insane!

I'd love to put a Marlin box in mine eventually (no use for one now, so no need to worry about spending the money). Glad to hear you like yours. A buddy of mine is getting ready to put one in his pickup. Look like some high quality, beefy units. I just can't wait to get the NV4500 conversion underway on my rig :D

Sick...I was going for the 205 setup, but for a few hundred bucks more i could have a toy box so the savings count is about half way there of getting 4.7 toy box....wooohooo

That's awesome. Definitely show us some super slow crawl pics up the sides of mountains...

PS, I hate you.

Either that, or I'm very jealous. Take your pick.

It is not the 205 conversion but the front half of a 203 , the range box that gets you a doubhler just like the marlin crawler useses the front half of a mini t-case as its doubler....I have it in my wagon and it was the easiest/cheapest way to adapt the 700r4 to the split transfer case....lots of info out there if you search....

Thanks, I had never heard of it. So didnt know what to search for. I will check it out.

Yulp.... 203...But to keep the 4speed and the t-case you would need to spend 1100 in adapter plates...no thanks. and that only puts you in at 80: or so to 1...spend a few hundred more bucks and you get the 174:1 plus a brand new toy box..no an junk yard 203... Although the 203 is a super strong case and I would not bother me at all running it. I am half way there for a toy box might as well save and do it the way I really want to.

Mmmmm

Bob can't wait to wheel with ya.

Henry, PLEASE be careful with stupid low. My 40 was breaking rear shafts while letting out the clutch.. Slowly...

I see my Schwartz is bigger than yours!!!!!!

I will be. I won't be using it a whole lot, and anyone who's wheeled with me knows I pick lines carefully and try not to be stupid, it's the legacy of too many years on expedition in South America where there aren't any tow rigs or trailers, and leaving a truck disabled in the bush to go get parts means you find a burned out husk or maybe a frame! :)

Henry,

Do you know what your "HIGH-HIGH" OD % is compared to the 27% (I think) the NV4500 is?? Just wondering how the H55+toybox compares to the 4500 on the freeway...

Chuck

I have the 203 in my 60 its mated to a SM465x203x3 speed gear transx 4.56 gears= 137:1 and I thought I had crawl/ludicrous speed in my truck. I havent really used it here in the southeast but when I was in New Mexico (Las Cruses) I used it often just for the control it gives you.
