The parts are a 1992 5.7L, 700R4 and 1988 Toyota transfer case. Everything is bolted together including the adapter and ready for your project.

The parts are still in my 62 and in good running order as this is my daily driver. This was Heckraiser truck before me so if you know him you know the history. He passed on to me that there were approximately 60,000 miles on the motor and transmission. The TC shifts correctly, no noise.

In May I am swapping the entire drivetrain for an LS, 4L60E and NP241. The sale notice is going up early so anyone interested can perform a test drive prior to purchase.

I live near San Diego but the swap is taking place near Denver so both places and anywhere in between can be a meeting point. I am driving the 62 with the existing stuff to Colorado, swapping the new and can bring back the entire set back to California.

I will consider parting the set but not my preference. Also if there are no takers the entire old drivetrain will stay in Colorado at my uncle's shop so this is not a distress sale.
Price is $700 for the set.

I'm interested, I need to do a little more research about fitting it all in a 80. I am up in Wyo, but we are down in Denver quite a bit.

Sounds good let me know. The drivetrain is strong and reliable, if I didn't live in the smog police I would tweak the motor and call it good. Any alteration worth a darn will be picked up at the smog station so a good deal for someone wanting an inexpensive V8 swap.

Is the price too high or are the parts too common?

I think that most are probably like you, more interested in a Vortec Gen III or IV and a 4L65E. Same amount of work to do the swap either way, a little more wiring on the Vortec.

I agree but wanted to throw it out there just in case. In any event the transfer case will come back home with me post surgery. Surely that will find a new home.

A 1992 OBD I engine should be easy to get passed by the Referee here in CA. OBD II engines can be a bit trickier. BTW the price is fair!

Yes in stock form it was easy, my cruiser has the CARB sticker. What I was trying to get across was the limitations of tweaking the motor for better performance here in CA. If I were somewhere else I would keep the TBI engine and add a few ponies.

got it;)

Hey David - is this set up still available? I am also looking at doing an LS swap but the price is very tempting. What type of MPG//HP were you getting with this set up?

Yes, it's still available. Sorry I never checked because I figured it was at least as bad as the OEM set up.

Sorry I was talking about the mileage. It has pretty damn good get up and go, starts up every time and so far been very reliable.

I live downtown - can you give me a ring so we can meet up? I live in Cortez Hill across the street for El Cortez. I am home between 10AM and 3PM.
