My wife and I are heading east from sunny Cali next week to see our son perform in the World Championships of DCI in Indy. Plan is to leave from Indy Sunday morning and head over to FJ40 Jim's for a while, then up to Columbus for the evening.

Once I mentioned to the Hoosier guys that we were gonna be in town, they arranged a little gettogether for us on Sat the 8th. I dropped in on the NM forum to let the locals we were gonna be in Albuquerque on the 3rd. Same result!

So, in talking with Jim earlier today, I figured I should post up and see if anyone was interested in getting together on Sunday afternoon/evening in Columbus.

If so, you guys pick the place [since I've never been there] and Jim'll make sure I figure out how to get there! He might even lead!;p

I'd recommend this place:

Schmidt's Sausage Haus und Restaurant

Met up with Jim, his wife and another Cruiserhead there back in the spring. Great food and beer with good service and an interesting atmosphere. I'm planning on travelling through CBus myself on the 9th. If something is organised I'll try and join in the fun.

Nick

My friend from HS, parents own that place.
I won't be heading to cbus that weekend so you guys enjoy your carb talk.

Nick, Great minds think alike... or misery loves company.

Rachelle also suggested Schmidts as an excellent choice for OOT guests because it is "authentic" Columbus dining. Plus it is in German Village, an architecturally and historically interesting section of Columbus (betcha didn't think there was an interesting part of C'bus :D)

I can definitely lead the way there, cause it's one of my favoritest places in town.

Mark, it is also close to the German Village Book Loft, a book store made by combing two old houses and filling every room floor to ceiling with (surprise) books. I could live there.

And there is a free performance of Shakespeare in the Park @ 8PM.

But first we should do some greasy Cruiser stuff. Anybody wanna help strip an FJ60 that afternoon?:grinpimp:

Jim, that sounds like a heck of a fun day! Let's see greasy Cruiser parts, greasy sausage and then some Shakespeare! :hillbilly: Sending an email for some more details...

Nick

Tina and I had a great time hanging out with Jim and Rachelle Sunday afternoon. We spent some time testing out Trollhole's chinese dizzy [details to follow] and having lunch in downtown Lancaster before Nick showed up with that heavy HEAVY load of stuff.

We took some gag photos I'll try and post up when I get back to prove that Jim and I CAN be in the same place at the same time!

Had a great dinner at a Greek diner in C'bus that stayed open an hour later than closing for US on a Sunday night, which was way cool for an indy joint to do. Great conversation. Jim, you gotta send me a link on that clunker race stuff!

We made it to Michigan today; Vic says hi back at ya! Now we're in Michigan City, IN, en route to Davenport.

Look forward to meeting more Buckeye Cruiserheads in the future.

Best

Mark A.

It was great getting to meet Mark & Tina. We've talked on the phone many times, and Mark is as cool & mellow in person as on the phone. Mark played with a dissy on the sun-alyzer machine, then we went back in the air conditioned house so Mark could show us how Rachelle's guitar is supposed to sound. Nobody here can play the thing, but he proved it can sound darn good in competent (legendary perhaps?) hands. Next time, we gotta get Tina to play the piano.

We went into town for lunch and a brief walk around some of the historic district of Lancaster. Back at the ranch, we just hung out and enjoyed the AC some more (did I mention it was frikkin' hot?).

Then Nick arrived and we all got to check out his trailerload of new lathes. Yes, that's lathes with an "s" at the end. He's got some cool toys.

Off to dinner, then it was time for our meetup with Mark & Tina to end <sniff>.

Mark, the website is The 24 Hours of LeMons

Since we are toyota geeks, it might be easier to understand the Engrish version.

So Jim,
Off tangent but is your team going for the 24 hours of Lemon at Nelsons Ledges in October??
Dave

Yes Dave, you have been selected to go with us to Nelson.:D

Your job is to tend the Ewes.

Or maybe :hhmm: you could help us straighten out the car before the race, rather than at the track, as we've done previously.

Respectfully, Jim C, chief besmircher, Focke Ewe Too racing.

Kewl,
I have a 9000kw generator, a compressor and a 135 amp welder that can make there way to the track. I will be single by then so The soon to be ex can not object.
Oh, I will be single so watching the ewes might prove too tempting......
I will be there.

We had a generator for running lights & sawzall, but if you have an air compressor and a welder that can run off genset power, that's even mo' bettah.

Wait, isn't this a thread about sunday's GTG? :whoops:

I am the hijack king.
Sorry I couldnt meet you Mark,

Back to hijack, The welder is a lincoln wp135, It will trip a 10amp 110volt breaker, I will test it on my genset (20 amp) and make sure it will work. There is a 30 amp 220 line on it as well. I figure a port a power and some big hammers should round out the "tool kit"
