For those that have done a GEN III Vortec swap, what did you do for the accelerator pedal? Did you use the one from the donor vehicle? Did it require modifications? Are there any other options available? For example, I read Cameron Mosely's build thread where he used a Monte Carlo pedal, but his was a GEN IV, for which the DBW configuration is completely different.

I spend about 45 minutes searching this forum and other forums, but I wasn't able to home in on anything.

Thanks!

Most donor vehicle ones will not work without modification. I believe that the only one that will work in stock form is either newer corvette or camero and the pin-out needs modification on both.

EDIT: Yup you are right with Cameron's thread and it being the Monte Carlo pedal. Should still work regardless of the fact that it is a Gen IV engine vs. Gen III. Other idea would be to look for the pedal configuration from that model vehicle (Monte Carlo) running the Gen III engine to get it to work.

Gen III is not compatible with Gen IV according to what I've read. GEN II uses a TAC controller with a totally different cable. As far as I can tell, the GEN III motors were never offered in a Monte Carlo.

You will need to modify most any pedal assembly that you get from a donor vehicle. There are also after market pedals from suppliers like Lokar.

This is an assembly from a vehicle that has the ability to adjust pedal position for the driver. Before is the pedal in the back, cutting and welding required. Nothing is a bolt on affair in a swap, aside from maybe mounting the ECU but you still need too drill holes, I make brackets.

This is the pedal I used:
2005 CHEVY SILVERADO GAS PEDAL

It was a pretty easy mod to get it to fit.

That's the same gas pedal I used I my 2006 engine.
The upper hole on the pedal housing lined up with one of the threaded holes on the rig, can't ask for better..!!

I cut and welded the pedal, easy peasy.

I also had to source out the TAC module.

trying to fit the DBW pedal in my 1987 for my 6.0L swap. I have the same GM pedal, just need to cut and weld.
Thanks for the info, this forum is great!
