I'm getting ready to re-gear finally. After shopping around I see more gear brand options for the 100 Series than I realized were available. I see offerings from Nitro (seem to be most popular), Sierra Gear and Axle, Precision Gear, Yukon, USA Standard Gear, Omix-Ada, etc, etc, etc... Looks like most people are running Nitro now and some of the earliest and oldest threads about re-gearing used Precision Gears. Anything to specifically avoid or other recommendations? :hhmm:

Chattted with just differentials yesterday on same question- Kevin indicated they are made in the same factory and basically the same. Difference is toyota heat treats them at the factory and they don't need a break in period.

Depending upon what you are re-gearing.
For the front and rear diff's I used Nitro from Just Differentials. Carl is a great person to deal with. I had some issues when installing my front locker with my mechanic and Carl was there every step of the way. HUGE kudos to Just Differentials for all their help!
For re-gearing the transfer case, I used Marlin Crawler.

(FYI: my front locker is TJM)

^ I'm getting ready to order 4.88's and re-gear front and rear. After shopping around online I found some less expensive ring and pinion sets. I hadn't researched gears much lately and found more options available than last time I was looking into these. I probably overshop and compare prices when I'm parts shopping and try to save money when it makes sense. I agree many of the mud vendors are top notch and a wealth of knowledge if you need assistance or support after purchasing from them... However, if it saves hundreds of dollars purchasing the same parts elsewhere it makes it tough to justify the difference in cost sometimes...

I was really looking for input from anyone currently running or installed anything different than Nitro Gears. They (nitro) seem to be the most common and recommended for our platform. I saw a few old early posts using Precision Gears. Any differences in gear quality or bad stories out there?
