hello

does any one know the correct ratio my kzj70 diffs will have?

I am running 35s, i want to put the gearing back to standard by changing the ring and pinion or is they another way i can change it with out spend 1000s ? please let me know

I have a few spare sets of diffs at 4.88 ratio ? and was thinking of swopping them over if it would be worth it? i have also seen 5.29? available

any help appreciated

diff ratio

hi, your kzj 70 comes factory fitted with 4.56 gear ratio. With r150 gearbox.
I've tried a few ratio & tyre sizes. So far i've been running 4.88 ratio with 33 inch tyres gives you about the same ratio as 31inch tyres on 4.56 ratio.(factory setup) Any larger the tyres as in you're case, really depends what you do. if you're serious offorading then you'll probably want 5.29. If you're doing roadtrips etc then maybe you'll prefere the 4.88, which with 35inch tyres will have a 10 percent higher ratio than factory
setup.
Another option you have is to change the gearbox from a 2.5 turbo landcruiser^prado which is the r151 lower gearing and 4/88.
I've just sold my KZJ73 VX 1995, which I had with R150 gearbox
4.88 diffs and 33 inch tyres and I found it perfect for where
i live, for towing and offroad trips to morroco.
Just bought a KZJ77 which still has 4.56 diffs and running 33 inchs and the gearing is to high for my liking.
Either I'll fit 4.88 diffs again as i've got a rear diff but havent got a front one or i might experiment and pop the R151 gearbox I've got here and see. Will be fitting ARB lockers on this one.
Have you got any spare front diffs by any chance 4.88.
Cheers Adam. Malaga Spain
P>S. Are you from Halifax+ I was born there!

hi thanks for the reply

I am not sure if i have 2 or 1 front dif at 4.88

would the r151 gear box be a stright swop into a kzj? any idea if its in a lj70 or just a prado?

yes i live in bradshaw halifax were was you from ?

Kzj70 parts

You can use your Vin or frame # on www.toyodiy.com to check. For KZJ70 and 35" tires I'd recommend 4.88 or 5.29. We offer both. Both diffs are 8", front is reverse cut high pinion. Both are available in the new Nitro hd 29 spline setup with larger pinion diameter.
p/n's for LJ/RJ/KZJ 70 series
T8R-529R-NG FRONT
TV6-529-29-NG REAR
BOTH REQ. YOKTOYFITKIT-29 OR YOKT35100-MULTI (FLANGE)
Front chromoly axle / cv kit is AX TBIRF-LJ70KIT
