Yesterday the gauges in the 60 were lit up just fine. Tonight we started banging out a few dents in the fenders and guess what...not gauge lights for teh drive home. Can't yet tell if the guages are still working, because it was too dark. Is there a common reason for all of the lights in the dash to stop working? does anyone have a link to a diagram? Thanks in advance.

it is a 1983.

Try adjusting the dash dimmer!! One the left side of the dash down just above the fuse box. Black knob about 1" diameter.

tried that. it feels really spongy but it doesn't make the lights work. The headlamps and turn signals work btw. I don't have the side lamps.

did you check the fuses?

Thanks. I do not have tail lights either, I was told today. I do have brake lights and head lights. No tails lights, dash lights or parking lights.

did you change the fuse?
This truck is haunted. Spent all afternoon changing the fuse. It would last a while then pop. After tracing the harness from the corner lights back, I found a pinched harness and a dead short in the engine bay. :bang:

I bought this truck last week. She is a wreck. Literally-she is wrecked. She was one of those trucks that was towed from a wreck and it's owner never picked it up. It's almost all cosmetic: fenders, hood, and grille. I don't have the factory turn signals, so I kept thinking that was the problem.

It all works fine now (seven hours of hunting). She will never be a show truck, just a backwoods crawler. Thanks for the tips.

Dude, the vehicle that you can park anywhere, use the hood for a workbench is the best kind. Some poor bastard dingned my rear quarter panel right next to the lower tailgate. They left a hefty amount of paint on the corner of my redneck, bomb-proof bumper too. I just laughed! Whatever hit me must have suffered considerable damage which serves them right since they didn't have the decency to fess up to their folly. It's true freedom to not have to care.

I ran into the back of a UPS truck with mine; tilted the bumper up 1/4", the UPS truck's back door was on the ground in ruins...moral of the story....these rigs are indestructible!!!!!!
