I order 28441 which is the 600" box. This is actual green (color) Green Stripe.

I'm about two weeks from needing to order another box of it.

All of my stuff is Green Stripe on the Wits' End site. Well, anything not OEM :P

Try Phhkit.com.

Or get the kit from wits end that @NLXTACY sells along with all of the things you never thought you needed until you browse his site :)

The NAPA Gold strip is a black and gold strip hose made by Gate and is an exact replacement for Gates green stripe. 5/8" Id heater hose. I researched this as well when I was doing my phh. Don't forget this is a great time to replace all of your other coolant hoses and do a great flush. Possibly the thermostat and the water pump as well. Since the coolant is drained. I also recommend bypassing the tube up the back and going around the brake booster, it was A LOT easier to do this route and you end up with extra hose if you need some later.

When I got 5/8" hose, I compared the differences in the specifications between Gates Green Stripe and Napa FleetFlex, and found there were none. That's what I ended up using for my non-formed heater hoses, would have done a PHH bypass with it, but already had the blue hose kit.

Cool kits, Joey. I already purchased all my Breeze hose clamps from amazon, only need a few feet of the heater hose.
It looks like Gates Gold stripe from NAPA is a direct replacement, can anyone else verify?
I called toyota in Clovis, asked them for all the heater hoses, comes out to $600...
My plan is to replace the straight sections with Gates and buy the 3 formed pieces by the firewall, anyone have part numbers for that?
Can't seem to find it in search.

I went to Car Quest. They didn't have it so ordered a "roll" from the warehouse. I only needed 12 feet and did a full bypass of the PHH. This stuff is AMAZING and with gates constant tension clamps I got from Ebay, I dont think I'll ever touch the hoses again. Not very pricey, and about 50% more wall thickness. Great stuff

Just bought the PHH kit from wits end earlier today. It was my first order with them, and man what a smooth experience. Really really good s***.

Thanks @NLXTACY !

First link doesn't work.

Either way, I strongly recommend against silicone on the PHH. I was in the silicone camp and I learned a hard lesson last week when my Silicone PHH failed after 50k.

Wow, I thought the silicone was supposed to be the end all solution. What gives? Why would it fail so soon?

Green stripe rocks. I installeld green stripe hoses on my FJ40 probably 15 years ago. Still looks and feels new. The stuff is extremely good.

My PHH was a green strip repair-that was 4 years ago and still perfect.

My understanding is that silicone doesn't bond to the metal fittings, where as the green stripe forms a pretty tough bond over time. So much lower chance of leaks and the like.

Thanks for the response, I guess I should have done more research. LOL, I'm not looking forward to changing it again...

Anyone else having a hard time tracking down Gates green stripe heater hose? An O'rileys by my house have a 300' roll but they won't cut it, they only sell it by the roll...
Well that's just stupid.

I was losing coolant here and there and couldn't figure out where. When the PHH finally blew I could see a clean spot in the firewall where the PHH was leaking and steaming clean that spot. It was initially a smear tear. It grew to about an inch when it finally blew.

Thanks for the heads up. I've had the silicone on there for about 15k now. I definitely don't want to deal with that on the side of the road.

When I did my HG replacement I went with Gates Green also, they are a tight fit to get them on. For the bends also went Gates with no stripe... was it the best choice? I don't know... I really didn't have the money to purchase the OEM. Below are some pics that might help.

I love the greenstripe hose. But as a data point, I installed silicone on my PHH 9 years and 75000 miles ago. I just replaced it when I pulled my head to change the gasket. The inner silicone was perfect. The outer cover was dirty but what I'd expect for 9 years. I replaced it with a new piece of silicone, from the same 1 foot chunk I bought 9 years ago.

That being said, if I didn't have the extra silicone sitting in my toolbox, I'd go with the gates stuff.

I initially ran into the same issue trying to find 1/2" Gates Green Stripe Heater Hose for the rear heater pipes. None of half a dozen stores knew it existed so drove to one and together we found it available in 25' rolls. Most stores had the Gates Safety Stripe in stock which has the word "Premium" stamped on it with a white stripe down the length of the hose. But don't be fooled, the Safety (white) Stripe is actually the cheapo grade hose at around $1.50 a foot. Green Stripe sells for almost double that per foot. FWIW.

Do you recall the Oriley's part number for Gates green stripe 1/2" ID? I'm also looking for a 90* elbow for the rear heater, found Gates 28460 with the same spec as the Gates 5/8" green stripe.

Green Stripe part number...

28439 = 1/2"
28441 = 5/8"
28442 = 3/4"
