Gas tank too high? Return line hook up?

I am piecing together a 83 fj60 with a 2f.

I had the motor running from a gas can under the hood.

I hooked up a new tank out back and now it won't run.

My tank sits up high in the rear of the rig, and my feed line is on top of the tank.

Does the pick up from the tank need to be lower than the oem pump?

Do I need an external pump?

I don't want one, especially if not needed.

Do i need to run a return line to the tank?

My tank has a fuel out and a vent.

Can the vent also act as a return?

the pump may not be able to get the fuel up to the front if there is air in the line. i had to prime my diesel for awhile to get the fuel moving when i swapped tanks. a boat hand pump inline would allow you to prime the gas. walmart's boat section will likely have em.

The stock pump is not good at sucking the fuel out of the tank. It really needs to be gravity fed to the pump.

mel are you ashamed of the origin of your rig :hmm:? :flipoff2: It has character and history .

No shame here.....

Not one to boast either

For anyone listening, vwag is now the "Turkey Wizz", my trail rig.
