I have a 2000 lx470. Gas tank appears to of split at seam. Leaking when I have a full tank. No pressure when opening the gas cap. It looks like it rusted out. Common issue? What is the best avenue for replacement? Aftermarket? What else should I expect or should replace while it is out.

I snatched a tank and skid plate from out west on car-part.com for $250 shipped a few years back. The seams rust out on these commonly in the rust belt. They create a really good place for a ton of schmutz to build up. If your tank is rusted it’s likely your lines are too. I got all new hard lines from Toyota for $146. That price included a new gasket for the sending unit and one for the filler tube/vent on the back. It’s not a crazy amount of work, but it’s also not super fun. Your filler tube could be rusted as well, I stupidly did not change that and now have a leak there that I have to deal with this week. So I would double check that. If you never have had a fuel pump change, now is the time while it’s out. Same with a fuel filter in the engine bay.

Many thanks for your reply. Do you happen to have the part numbers for the lines? Any other lines above tank that might be worth replacing?

Part numbers and what I paid back in ‘21. To clarify, these part numbers are for an 06/2000 production date Land Cruiser. The may change depending on year and/or LX.

Can anyone validate below part numbers
Gas tank 77100-60042
Fuel pump 23221-31150
Filler tube numbers ? Is it two sections?
