Hello all, I am finally back from Afghanistan and working on my new (old) 72 with a fevered pitch. I have run into a snag with the gas tank and want to order a new one.

I can't seem to find a poly gas tank for my 1972 FJ 40 Cruiser. It was made in 10/71 but the cutoff for a lot of parts seems to be 9/71. Anyone know of any sites where they sell Poly tanks for the 1972 Cruiser??

Thanks!!!

From what I have read here, and it makes sense, I would not go poly when I replace mine. I would suggest getting one of these.

Then read up on it some more (try FAQ ) to see why I say this. At least take a look at what others have said about steel vs. poly, to see what works best for you.

Hi All:

I've had a poly replacement gas tank in my '74 FJ40 since 1998 and though it works, I can't recommend it, considering all the issues I've had over the years.

I really wish I'd spent the extra $50 in 1998 and bought a NOS steel Toyota fuel tank! :frown:

Glad you made it back from Asia in one piece, and good luck with your rig!
